  1. i just googled them.. those chinese ones look terrible! (no offence to anyone who likes them!). GAE's are way nicer. BTW ryan - your GAE is the reason I got mine.
  2. photobucket. - no pop ups like evil imageshack.us you upload them there, and then copy the img code, and paste it as is in a reply.
  3. sorry have never bred them. they shouldnt be too different from others? regular water changes, BB tank, courgettes, cucumbers to eat.
  4. its called LM ANIMAL FARMS DAILT LIQUID MULTIVITAMIN FOR BIRDS. made for birds, great for fish! contains - (and im listing the vit numbers not the names) VIT A D3 E B1 B2 B6 B12 C and more. :bounce:
  5. those eheim bio ball things last practically forever, and i use them cause they have a legendary surface area cause of their micro structure. broken ceramic tiles are good too.. scouring pads etc can be used too. rough/coarse gravel can work too.
  6. is the Chinese one golden?

    Silly dageti

oh no. i had a dageti once. i only saw him for the first 5 minutes and then he permanently disappeared.
  8. there is no space for a coke bottle. i cant even see the gravel from any angle. I like plants.
  9. A towns or mine? Or both? I'll take the complement any how ha ha    they get hikari and colour bits with courgette and spirulina flakes and liquid multivitamin in the water.
  10. Does any one have Top Gear Magazine Issue #36 February 2009 that they want to sell? I collect every single magazine, but missed the feb issue, and now my set of about 24 is incomplete, and is driving me crazy! any help appreciated! :bounce:
  11. that's what i wanted to say! ok.. maybe i would have said something ruder, lol
  12. hmm.... maybe i should have posted this BEFORE i got them hahahahaha. they are so pretty though! i cant catch any fish in my tank. its virtually impossible. too much wood, too many plants. suppose its now survival of the fittest.i usually give up after 2 hours of my hands in the tank with 6 nets. any other GAE experiences out there?
  13. thanks. when i got them they were normal looking. I only get the V shaped ones. and they have to have the V shape on both sides. 4 or 5 out a batch of 10 grew spots. i initially thought it was something dangerous. but then i saw it was pigmentation on the skin. it goes real dark when they are happy and eating.
  14. i dont really know to be honest. maybe mark will know. do they get oranges in the wild? cause if they do then im sure they can have oranges. no limes or something though... or coffee, lol.. they love coffee.
  15. oh.. lol... i better do it before shorty starts
  16. not a promising start then perhaps if i get more they will be ok? the tank is so heavily planted, occasionally you cant even find the fish.
  17. curse you youngins! Sex: *tries my very best not to say something smart and sarcastic, so instead ill say - Male. Age: 21 Single-ish
  18. yes. sorry. what he said.
  19. so what's the goss with these guys? Some people say they are peaceful - some say they are nightmares. some say they like being in groups, and some say they are best kept alone. then course some say pfft to all the above. so now im confused. I got 2 the other day - and im hoping to get more... but should I? PS- i hope they eat more than just algae, cause they'll struggle to find that in my tank. will they eat hikari?
  20. you're right... although genetics play a crucial part in the phenotype of an organism, it is not the only thing that determines the colour in this case. the environment, competition from other males, lack/abundance of females, and also very importantly diet etc etc... all play a part in the colours.
  21. an orange or a mandarin? a sweet orange is ok i guess... but a nice sour one probably isn't. i usually put them in water so it dilutes a little bit.
  22. you mean red sand like in my old nano? or was it someone else's tank? I used pure laterite. but that's not a good way of doing it. exo terra sand comes in red, it does not leach and is pH neutral. 20 bucks for 2 -3 kg i think. its also a bit hard to get the red colour in at the moment.
  23. dont feed stuff with phenols in it... or too much citrus. datura is a common plant that can kill even humans, animals etc, so steer clear of that stuff. its got a beautiful bell shaped flower. im sure i have a link somewhere, but im on my luch break at work so will post it when i get back home... that is if i can find it.
