  3. i dunno. only thing i can think of is.. new financial year in march, everyone's happy with their tax rebates, no more stress.. giggity gig... and then 9 months later.... a Sagittarius is born
  4. yeah, id avoid them personally. the tank is too thin. if it had length you may have been able to get away with it.
  5. hahahahahaha. some people!!!!
  6. and according to the probability theory, the results should have a standard normal distribution. 8) 8) 8)
  7. hyperbole much? are you going to rear the babies?
  8.   sweet. would you like some red ludwigia for one or more of your tanks? __________ thanks simon. it makes sense now. i may have figured it out but after 5 pages of financial planning things nothing makes sense any more
  9. hmmm... what are the dimensions of the tank?
  10. the media that comes with is pretty good. if you want better get some of that eheim substrate pro - little round ball things. what size is the tank(s) they are on? i just pour the water out, clean the sponges, rinse the carbon out, rinse the ammonia remover, do not rinse the media thing. and then i refill it with water. connect it, and it runs perfectly. no need to prime or any of that rubbish - they work well. my setup is: ammo carb in the lowest, with a mesh of filter wool on that; eheim media the next compartment, a mix of that eheim stuff and the fluval stuff in the next, and in the last - more eheim stuff  then i have another 405 with a different setup in it. i clean mine every 3 weeks or so.... give or take.. depending on what mood im in. i only clean 1 at a time though. no time to clean both. with me, the filter wool has never clogged the filter. HTH
  11. she's faaaarrrr to young to be your mother
  12. oh wow. that's a real nice pic! awesome! it growing really well!
  13. if someone updates the values, i can update the .xls file
  14. i was waiting for some one to post the figures, whetu! lol.... clearly i have to procrastinate.... must not do assignment!!!!!
  15. at that size yeah. too small. what you need is a nice 6footer! :bounce:
  16. overnight, and your water will be clear. do a wc though. wc's are your friend.
  17. lol im usually in favour of over filtration, but somehow i think the fish will spend more time in the filter than in the tank in this case!
  18. you get really teensy tiny ones here in palmy... the brand is jebo me thinks... HTH olly that FX5 in the tank advise is about the worst bit of advise i have ever heard off, lol
  19. ah i see. i have threadfin rainbows in one of my nanos and they look great. cheap fish too. do u like them?
  20. what on eart is a reed tetra? is there another name that it goes by?
  21. increase the surface agitation, and decrease the amount you are feeding the fish. it is most likely the dreaded protein film.
  22. did you have rocks in the tank? what sot of fish in the tank? as smidey said, if more than one tank has indeed broken in the same place, it may be that there is something else wrong.
  23. sounds like it'll be a nice tank. by 20cm cube do you mean, that is the volume of the tank, or that each side is 20cm (lxbxh)? ive seen those small heaters too, 25W or something like that.. work pretty well. a small hang on filter (should be able to get a secondhand one cheap as) would work well, or even a sponge filter can do. make sure you borrow a camera and post pics!!!
  24. they had stands pre fabricated in the tanks.... quite creative really, but there were no corals or any thing attached to the stands. that poor ocellaris did not look happy in the corner.
