  1. awesome. here's hoping that these pics will answer your questions: Bird and rat: Bird and donkey combo: giggity gig with a cat thou shalst not stealith my food!
  2. i have spotted ones... didnt even know they were rare, until david R pointed that out to me. I dont think ive ever seen a CL with 4 stripes though... it looks pretty cool
  3. i have deliberately not googled what the flower should look like cause i want it to be a surprise? yeah as atown said.... have you done anything extra for the plant? I can't wait for mine to flower now... that is if it ever does :bounce:
  4. i can never seem to grow any algae in my tanks! not even when my phosphates are off the charts its weird.
  5. yeah, i want the stuff in supasi's post. its awesome! my tank will look so much nicer with it!!!
  6. what sort are you getting? a rainbow, red collar, scaley or a hybrid like me? (not that im a hybrid... but rusty is). or is it one of those red ones? *drools.....
  7. congrats! get a clicker and clicker train him. bad behaviour gets a click. they dont usually like those clickers or their clicks. and when you do get bitten, don't withdraw your hand... cause if you do you just lost... and you don't want to lose lol... DO not pull on their back feathers! that's the worst thing ive ever heard of! lol  itll put the bird off your hands... especially if you get a young one (and im hoping you do). growling and saying no in a deep voice is effective - get used to making that sound too cause you'll have to do it a lot. let me knowif you need any more help.. you need a lot of time and patience. .. .a lot of patience.
  8. that's pretty much why i use carbon.. ive got a lot of drift wood in the tank, and carbon keeps the water its normal colourless "colour", instead of that yellow which i dont like.
  9. it looks like a fish bite to me. ive seen skunk loaches that do exactly this sort of damage to some other fish. Your water parameters must be really good if none of them have got an infection with that sort of damage
  10. the store manager. and she/he will get in touch with the livestock purchaser.
  11. these recent threads, are the first ive heard of them breaking. dont worry lynda, if yours breaks in such a way, ill personally call the supplier for you Dubbo - your tank certainly can be repaired. I'd do exactly what living art said... also call a glazier and ask for prices etc...
  12. your lighting could very well be the reason the flower is popping up. but i have no idea about these flowers so let us know how things turn out.
  13. in fishtank water? assuming near 0 Cl- levels, and pH~7. the levels of lead would be near negligible and pose no risk to the a humans CNS. plus sandra does regular WC's if lead sinkers provided such a high risk, they would have surely banned their use in rivers and lakes etc
  14. that is not because lead "dissolves" in water. it is because of leads half life in blood.
  15. post a pic of the crack showing a top down view.
  16. you don't have to worry about lead poisoning your fish. not unless you have a fair amount of chlorine in the water.
  17. Then get an Eheim and if it gets spoilt ask for a new one...
  18. have you spoken to the store concerned? as i know it... animates does not purchase from just any breeder- and definitely not backyard ones  there should be a number in chch you can call. but speak to the store first.
  19. I'm probably going to get shot for saying this but "EHEIM" makes great pumps. v v quiet too. but you'd expect that when they cost over 4 times the price of a normal pump. if you can score a Rena - those are good too, I have a "STELLAR" pump which is silent, and good... and ive had it for more than 4 years now.
  20. im waiting for that to grow on my driftwood!
