  1. Yesterday I bought 15 more cardinals. Not sure how many I have now, but when I took the discus out of the tank it looked so much more peaceful and the cardinals behaved like they do in those pictures where you 100+ in a tank. It was awesome. Considering rehoming the discus now.
  2. Your hoplos will grow big and eat the cardinals / neons / rummies etc even if your geos don't. How about a massive schoal of pictus catfish? They are awesome.

    Gah

No space! They have a hole in between 3 rocks formed like a cave with a bed of sand that they have made a cave out of. Eggs must have been kicked out of the cave and my cories are fatties  All 21 of them
  4. Me too. Doing my second postgrad. This one is in financial planning.
  5. Brain cannot comprehend. Maybe you can have a pleco tank? Just some small plecos and some congo tetras? Use lots of schist and caves; kinda like an african tank only with some normal leaf java fern and the Congo tetra?

Gah. I could have sworn I clicked on Catfish.
  7. You can put plants in there. Then you can put some cories and tetras?

Add more filtration with filter wool if you want clearer water. I run 2 x fluval 405s and 1 x Eheim pro II 2028 on my 4ft tank. Purigen is fantastic, but in a planted tank I don't think it's needed. African and marine tanks do well with it though. When was the last you recharged it, and how old is it if you haven't bought it brand new? I like the way your crypts have matured.

Nah, it's all good. There will be more. Plus I don't see the point in breeding L66. Cories still look cute as ever hiding in the sand. Father L66 looks positively sadistic though.
  10. If you are using my ferts; then you are adding CuSO4 to the tank. Clown loaches are ok with CuSO4; possibly to a lesser degree than other fish but they are not a 'scale-less' like many claim. 45 Deg C will cook your plants, so I wouldn't even dream of exploring that avenue.

Cories just ate 100+ L066 eggs. Gah.
  12. It is not time for a new heater; but more likely time to recalibrate your heater. Search this forum for detailed instructions on how to recalibrate the Jager. The thread pops up about twice a year.

Well I usually just pour the ferts in. No measuring apart from the "That feels about right" method. Quite a few bikers here. Morcs is on here too and if you're on KB then you'll prob know him. My brother is a biker too, but he's not on here. :slfg: Have you tried running the tank without purigen? Look up the EI method of dosing; it's Tom Barr's technique and it works brilliantly.

My tanks run at 0 nitrate too, but looking at the plants you'd never ever guess that. Even when I add nitrate, it's all gone within a matter of hours. So I just pour some in now-a-days; but my method of maintaining my tank is far from conventional.

Welcome. You and I seem to have a similar selection swords! They are awesome!
  16. Leave him be in the tank when he settles down and breathes heavily. he'll get used to the tank. Putting him in a bucket and stressing him out even more isn't going to do him ant favours. My discus will occasionally freak and hit the gravel but given time they are back to normal.
  17. I recall seeing that name listed. There were another 4 or so hybrids as well.
  18. And on closer inspection that will be one of the Syno euptera X ocellifer that came in a while ago.
  19. That auction that you linked to henward is a syno euptera X.
  20. Normal aged .. ahahha. I can't describe it, but it just is!
