  2. I agree too. Don't like the price.. don't buy it.. SIMPLE. No one's holding a gun to any ones head and forcing them to buy LG's any how. Its like whinging about the price of a Lamborghini
  3. that is why the intelligent grasshopper waits for specials, lol my hood is retailed at about $370 + the tubes are about $80 each, and there's 2 of them. (4ft light). course you can save on tubes if you get them from an electrical wholesaler. yes... xs. = excess, chemistry term, lol...
  4. what sort of light is this? what is the Kelvin rating? is it a t5 or a t8 (normal)? T5's are usually in xs. of $200 - if you get the good ones.
  5. post must have slipped through the cracks, lol.. top down view may be useful if you think you have a pair.
  6. Lucy I wouldn't go breaking another tank just to prove a point. it will cost you more than you will get out of it in the end. having said that I too think 10 -12mm is a bit generous for those tanks.
  7. rotala indica? or is it rotundifolia (spelling?)
  8. I shall have his lobsters round for dinner sometime.
  9. I welcome lobsters waaaaay more than Living art. Welcome to the forums~! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  10. I used to have a group of 4 of them among many other cories. had them for 4 years! they are really awesome, and they get pretty fat too. they are happy to go with other cories.
  11. make sure "macro" mode is on, and if you like you can use the ISO mode. you can always turn the flash intensity down if your camera has that setting too.
  12. Choolate Zebra pleco. my heart nearly missed a beat there.
  13. I think the fish will be too scared and stressed to make this experiment work well. plus doesn't it have to be a test where you only change one variable? if you move the fish to make decisions on schooling behaviour - scaring the living daylights out of the fish by netting it and then releasing it will have an effect on the results. Id recommend sending some snails to lmsmith - and then asking her to see which type of snails the puffers ate first - thus giving you results that can actually be used by many people - which type of snails (shape, colour and size) puffers like eating.
  14. I lost my first girlfriend to cancer. and we shared everything that these few lines said. hope your friends daughter gets well soon.
  15. I had a lady bump into my car at a stop sign, and then she said "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to.. its not my fault - its my new shoes" and then she proceeded to show me how her shoes impaired her braking ability
  16. well then. there is something wrong with the setup  It has no heater; so unless he is in a very warm room that is perpetually warm he may "survive" but won't be happy being tropical and all
  17. does this said glass bowl have a heater in it?
  18. Oye! your clown loach has 4 stripes~!!! :bounce: :bounce:
  19.   Awesome stuff. What are you going to do with the seeds?
  20. did you see it explode? (*imagines a pop and an explosion covering everything in lotus seeds)
  21. OMG!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: that's awesome and creepy all at the same time!! will the seeds grow to be plants? do you have to bury them in the substrate?
  22. We are talking about tanks the size of Olympic swimming pools here. where you dont have to heat them cause its tropical climate, natural temp ranges, normal rainwater water top ups and lots and lots of water. too many variables to be certain. i could see why they bred in there though. they were harvested 3 times a year.
  23. Food for thought - a must read. This has been sitting on my bebo page for so long now, I thought I'd share it with all of you as well. I don't know who the author is. The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgement, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete... Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent. Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
