  1. My luck with bristlenoses is changing. I can feel it :bounce: she (am i right?) eats!
  2. your plan sounds good. just keep doing those water changes, and that should disappear in no time at all :-D
  3. hi chris, how often do you do water changes on the tank, and how much each time?
  4. should be fine. most test kits give you a measure of the amount (n) of say phosphates contained in the water and not the concentration © of that chemical. so if your LFS dude is on to it and has some distilled water lying around, he can add it to the test tube with your water, so a colour change is visible. the concentration of what ever is in the water will change on addition of distilled water, but the amount (n) will not. having said that, he is only going to be testing about 4 - 5 mL in a t tube, so it should be fine. (don't go out of your way to buy those kits)
  5. oh good. :bounce: breed them well!
  6. what are the phosphates and nitrates in the tank at? do lots of water changes, (but do the water test first lol).
  7. oh sweet. I thought you were treating the tank with malachite green nice CL, he has a clean V shape
  8. there were tunnels? I hope next years conference is not at the same time as this years conference. mabye i can make it then.

  10. there was a train ride? and i missed it?
  11. too much phosphate leads to algae booms. that coupled with good lighting in most tanks will cause a nice healthy amount of algae
  12. awww. dear little muppet missed you.
  13. not really. you could check for phosphates if you wanted. how densely planted are we talking?
  14. do you have a pic? it wasn't a lionhead by any chance was it?
  15. ok. so first thing - what sort of algae is it? a pic would help too with silk plants - you can always remove them and clean them in hot / warm water.
  16. isolate her, put some meth blue and salt in the water and leave her be. HTH how did her head get cut? pic?

Hi Nick and welcome to the forums. Have fun with your science fair experiment (try not to blow things up like me  ).
  20. put some aquarium / rock salt with the fish. it will lead to an increase in the production of that slime coat.
  21. what is the K rating for your light?
