  1. lol, sure is. its a divers watch.
  2. awesome, its day 2 now and some of the smaller algae has disappeared, fingers crossed this will be gone too. if not, ill take out my pruning scissors and get rid of it.
  3. LOL. shucks. I usually tame at least one fish in the tank. I dunno i just put my hands in the tank and see which fish is game enough to play and then bribe them with food etc.
  4. How deep is your tank Adrinne, and how much were you willing to spend on lighting alone? With T5 HO (I favour the glo ones - made by hagen - fluval) the hoods are to be bought separately from the tubes, but they are a sound investment. Each 4ft HO tube is 54W and there is 2 of them in each fitting = 108W of power consumption. I run 2 of the 4ft hoods on my tank, 2 tubes @ 18000K and 2 @ 10000K and the plants and especially the swords are flourishing. the 18000K tubes are expensive, and are about $60ea. the other spectra tubes are far cheaper, and I think the 10000K tubes are like $30-40 each.
  5. Rusty says thank you for the complements. I on the other hand want to strangle him for singing everytime I try listening to my music.
  6. once your plants start showing some signs of growing. if they are emersed plants, start dosing at the first sign of submersed growth.
  7. nopes. not using that. Ive added co2 to the tank with a modified powerhead with holes thingy, and algae rid.
  8. There was a shipment about 4 years ago that brought in peckoltia.

    My tank.

I actually quite like it. is that real wood in the tank? hide the heater.
  10. someone told me it is staghorn algae. seems right. dosed with algae rid now, so hopefully it will go and never return. how long did it take to go away?
  11. that's how it looks with the naked eye. its pretty gross huh?
  12. sorry, i should have mentioned that a blackout is not on option on this tank. I have some plants in there that I cannot take chances with.
  13. This is the new-ish bane of my life. 1. what is it? 2. how can i kill it? I dislike it so much, i even bought algae-rid, phoszorb and nitrazorb today. Did I mention how much I hate this stuff? It feels like slimy fishing line and is pretty strong like. I will try hydrogen peroxide tomorrow.
  14. I WANT IT. can you get a pic? the last lot of bumblebees were L168.
  15. L134's are definitely here, but harder to come by, as every time "Leopard frogs" come in - they are any thing but. I think I had one at one stage. L201's may possibly have come in under a generic name - but there are many alternatives on the market with similar markings.
  16. it is pretty normal for them to zap each other, and "dance" circles around each other. keep an eye out for torn fins. I have housed more than 2 together, and they were awesome, and I didn't have any problems at all.
  17. The moss I sent you. Should have hopefully reached by now.
  18. That really sucks, I too have been going through the worst spell of bad luck in a while, so can empathise to a certain extent. I hope you are insured, and everything sorts out in the end - for the better.
  19. they will be thrilled in that tank! awesome fish too i must say.
  20. hahahahaha I didn't even bother putting in the Redspot pleco and the goldspot, figured the site would have a fit and explode in a fit of unhappiness. and this is with 2x 405's, and an eheim 2028. The calculator neglects time and the media that is being used in the filters. But apart from that it is possibly the most exciting thing I have seen all day!
  21. the UV filter will help you out with your problem, and it seems you have done everything correctly. you may add salt to your water, if you haven't already done so.

    CO2

450L? probably best off getting a pressurised system. It's a pity they are so expensive.
  23. look closer haha. red whiptails are on there too.
