    sounds like you got 2 half correct educated guesses. it would all depend on the sort of gravel you have. what is it? stuff like "autumn harvest, brightwater" etc etc are pH neutral. others like dolomite, limestone, calcium are not, and increase the pH. (natural substrates not available here lower pH and are typically stolen from river beds).

    dwarf sag (subulata) grows to 2ft in length and is pretty useless as a carpet. It needs no weighting down, as it spreads runners with a dense network.

    i chuck all the extra cats into the neighbours yard. literally. lift and chuck over the fence. then the dogs start barking and running (don't worry they are restrained). no more extra cats. :lol: Front yard is another story though.

    he is now about 7inches or so, maybe a tad more and is fat and lazy as ever.
