  1. See I would have guessed female on the left, male on the right. Something to do with the width of the base of the tail. Not sure if that is a tried and tested method as opposed to one that occasionally gets it right. naawww... you shouldn't have
  2. It means you should wait till Sunday to buy fish  She didn't mention which Sunday did she? Parents can be quite cruel in that way hahaha.
  3. green cambomba will go red under strong lights.
  4. I dunno  I personally think that any fish that will re-scape your tank after all that hard work is not a fish to have.
  5. hmm. Looks like an L46 tank now. I still say don't get Geos.
  6. Don't forget your ACC levies!
  7. Nitrate. You change water to reduce the nitrate levels. Ammonia should not exist once the tank has cycled. Also depends on what fish you have. If you have juvi discus you'll need to do many more water changes to get rid of the growth inhibiting hormones the fish release.
  8. use excel. pre gst price * 1.15 or old gst price incl. + *1.025
  9. Your works should employ a skilled mathematician like myself Course skilled work does not come cheap, but what's a few dollars (or a few thousand) in exchange for a lot of work and happy management + customers?
  10. I shall troll through my plant lists and see if I can track it down Thanks. I'm in a relatively cheap mood this month so fingers crossed
  11. Thanks all I quite like nano tanks. If I knew what I was doing next year I'd get a heap of mossie rasboras for this tank. For the plant suggestion - I more meant, what would be adequate as a background plant for this tank. just like val would be a background plant; but a crypt. Balansae will probably get too big, although I did want something that would start growing and covering the back... If you know me you'll know it will be almost impossible to find one plant I like and stick with that
  12. Yeah, 7cents per litre. Not much on the average tank of gas. It certainly didn't get me out the house just to fill up on gas! Use a supermarket voucher, get 4cents off (or more) and hedge against the 7 cent rise. That makes it a 3 cent rise, which is definitely not worth worrying about. Next year, when interest rates rise and the yeild curve starts climbing up again; that will be a fun period. It's a big fat cycle.
  13. Soooo I have a thing for crypts  There is something about them that is totally different to other plants, so I dedicated a planted tank to them and a couple of other plants from Asia. I grew the plants under 2x 36W T5 HO @ 18000K and even with CO2, slimy green algae took hold; so I severely down graded the lights to 1x 18W CFL @ 6500K. Crypts did fine under that light and the algae was under control too. But now I have reverted to the T5HO because I want to see what the algae does. The tank looks much better with the even illumination of the tubes as compared to being lit with the CFL. Now for the 'Q'. Is crypt balansae the only one I can use as a background plant that will sort of cover the top? This is the tank under the HO lights -
  14. All I see is a cut tail that is healing as best as it can. The new cell growth will be colourless when you look at it that closely. Is there a particular reason your fish would get fin rot? I mean are the water conditions in the tank poor? Doesn't seem that way with your water test results. Also, pH 7 to 6.6 is not really a pH drop. It'll probably settle at that value.

    New Discus!

hahaha I thought so. That would have taken me forever... actually I don't think I would have been able to do it.
