A little over stocking is fine; but that is more than just a little overstocked given water changes are only small and done once every week or two. I'd be doing at least one 50% change a week without fail if not more than that. You'd almost certainly stunt discus that are that small with your current WC regime, so first course of action will be to increase the frequency of WCs. That will most likely solve the issue with cardinals popping off as well, as I believe it has more to do with water quality than any thing else.

Yeah, I kinda see how any cichlid would be out of place in that tank. Won't really look right unless you got your hands on an apisto baenschi; which you wont over here. Maybe badis badis?

Peaceful; but territorial when breeding like most cichlids.

Just read about you thinking of sevs and parrots..... They are about the worst selections for that tank. Almost like putting silver dollars in that tank and then starving them. Kiss the plants goodbye! :lol:

That is exquisite! Healthy plants all around. I personally like cardinals but the small rasboras are really nice too.

Woke up this morning to 6 dead males. That's right 6. That leaves me with 3 males I think, so yep Nav I'll try my best to keep them safe till you get here. One very angry yellow female who is half the size of her mother and has inherited the temper of a ..... There are no eggs surprisingly enough, just 6 males thrown out the tank. Not happy at all. I even covered the tank and she got them from behind the heater.

There is no point creating an official FNZAS apisto club though is there? With administration, more subs etc etc. it would make more sense to join a local club so that you can register stuff but have the same email list as is above. Although if there are to be no running costs for this club it would be rather cheap and the only fees would be the most basic FNZAS fees.

I have something almost identical to the plant on the RHS. Its not exactly common but occasionally someone will sell it. I think alanmin is selling some plants at the moment, so have a look to see if there is anything you like. Plants like that need good light to maintain that colour; and the colour can get much much more intense.

Will the paint be ok with that much heat? The HO tubes get terribly hot.
