  1. you realise everytime you take the wood out the tank, when he is in there, you are only increasing his chances of getting stuck permanently? If he can come out on his own, he is not stuck. Leave him be, and when he comes out, the the wood out.
  2. Take the wood out at night when he does come out?
  3. They look slightly more developed, but that's about it. I'm growing Planaria in this tank too. Babies should like natural things to eat.
  4. But a 2x1x1 is a nano tank, most tanks under 100L are nanos, that's the whole point of them. Incidentally nanos are usually kept by more advanced aquarists as they are a hell of a lot harder to maintain.
  5. Good luck! and congrats! Have any pics? I thought we get festivum here, not panamense.
  6. Not at the moment. I would focus on conditioning them. In this case, like we've said before - they need to lose weight / look more streamlined.
  7. Concentrate on making them more normal looking. They are fat at the moment. They will breed when they are ready. You won't need to do any thing.
  8. Just stick to the JBLstuff for now. Hikari if you have it, and feed them only once every 2 days or so.
  9. Info here matt - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=47525 There is also a brilliant link that win shared with us on FK a while ago that I linked on here. Best way to brace a tank.
  10. Great! Thanks. They are great eh! And they fit brilliantly with the bracing I have on my tank.
  11. I was just telling someone about how I just blurt stuff out sometimes without the slightest bit of diplomacy. With some of the plants you currently have, you'll need a larger tank or you truly will have your fish jumping out for lack of space in the tank!
  12. I think the MX5 might fit in that
  13. It's a 10 day wait I've been told Or there abouts. Talk about patience. I guess I'll just have to pretend they don't exist.
  14. 8 foot I believe  maybe its 6. maybe ill just wait or win to answer
  15. They are definitely still being made. May I ask how much they cost you?
  16. why don't you just return the lelupis? and get shellies off HFF? Seems to be the right thing to do if they sold you the fish and have offered a return.
  17. growlux has no real colour rating - it's been tweaked a lot. Has a base of 6500K I am lead to believe. What is the pink colour one? is it the glowlux? whatever it is, is working wonders on the rotala.
  18. Yeah, took out the whole egg. took some precision scraping and tools  This is day 3 now, and my discus laid their eggs the same night, and they have already hatched. Lancelota eggs however have not.
  19. 3 Infertile eggs. So I popped them and removed the casings. Boy were they leathery and strong! eggs glued to each other too.
  20. Carbon strips most of the nutrients from the water. So if you are using nutrients to help your plants out compete the algae, it is counter productive as you remove whatever you put in. I personally like using carbon, but after a while of tinkering with stuff, I've found it isn't needed unless you have lots of tannins and you don't like the yellow colour.
  21. Hi and welcome. 'Morcs' probably doesn't have this tank any more. The Brown algae phase - is just that; and is called new tank syndrome because it usually occurs during the period of elevated nitrate levels when establishing a new tank. It does go away in time, but more plants, light, CO2 and nutrients will combat it quite effectively. No FW tank should cloud at all, let alone selectively during the day. You can try carbon, but don't use it at all if you are combating brown algae.
  22. Well, you have selected a species of fish that is renowned to be sensitive to water quality and conditions; and need soft acidic water, and will never be fine in hard water. Conversely your shell dweller needs harder alkaline water, and would not be thrilled in soft acidic water. You need to go back to HFF, select a fish that you like, and then stick with it. Shellies are really realyl cool, so if you got more of them and removed the neo*, that would solve one potential issue. Also, if your tank isn't big enough for e. yellows, shellies are just about the only small african I can think of that would be fine in there. maybe pair of julis or something, but then again territorial issues would be your biggest problem. If you had a larger tank you could have experimented a bit more, but given the space confines you don't have much of a choice really, and if you do add a whole load of different species in the same tank - which is fine, you need to make sure they will be compatible for temperament and water conditions. sorry, but it doesn't sound like their fault TBH. If you, as you have indicated above like having many species in one tank, the sales person has merely done what he needed to, to make you as happy as possible. That involved selecting 2 fish that he simply may not have forseen any problems with. I don't think the leleupi - shellie agression is all that well known about, especially given that the shellies are new to the hobby here. Given light of the new information, you just might find that the shop is happy to undo any mistakes. This is why it pays to research things for your self before going out and buying stuff. I think it's unfair to expect everyone to know absolutely everything about a million different species of fish; life is a learning curve after all.
