  1. You also get a bird cage holder that has only one hook (about $60 RRP). Doesn't need modification if you are using a single halide, but if you are using a set of tubes like the unit above; you'll need to use the metal wires and the holder thing to balance the tube and make it totally stable and level. Alternatively I'm sure someone could make something like that.
  2. They haven't spelled Friendship correctly! Frienship! Also - Hedge Hongs
  3. oh cool! That's a different one then. I thought it looked different to the S. American ones. Don't think ive seen a brown one like that before! (What I said about aggression before was for the S.American GK).
  4. Why must you torture me so? *cleans glass. It has an odd tail, but looks like the brown ghost knife. Look the same as the BGK, bar the colour. I've found them to be highly intolerant of other ghost knives. Not sure about compatibility with other electric fish though.
  5. It's like a giant sponge. Holds as much as it can, and stops holding any more when it's at its max and *blurt out it all comes. I think it just stops holding any more impurities once the pores are full.
  6. They didn't jump. The female cornered them behind the heater as they do when they are breeding and attacked / pushed them out.
  7. Thanks danval. I still have one female and now I have a theory with some evidence of how / why sporadic apisto deaths occur. I believe they have a tendency to freak and stress out immensely and that usually leads to death characterised by suddenly going belly up and then dying. Someone came over the other day to take a male apisto agasizzi home and the minute we caught one he went upside down and started breathing really really fast. Released him immediately and he was swimming upside down. Went for another male; and the exact same thing happened. This happened to 3 different fish. They were stressed out to the point of losing their colour and swimming upside down and almost having an epileptic fit! So I decided they were not going to be taken out the tank until I could figure out what was going on. They are all ok now, but at that point they were on the brink of death. Very very weird and strange that's for sure. Previously I knew this happened to Banggai Cardinal fish, but maybe the same happened with these guys.. Now I'm not making an assumption about all apistos (my other ones don't do this) or even all agasizzi, but the ones I have truly freaked me out when I saw this.
  8. Dwarf puffers don't need any salt in their water and will be fine with the goby. BBGs dont like other BBGs though. Grumpy tards.
  9. I hear you. Coincidently there is a magnificent 4/5 ft one made by the same brand with the platform etc. Very fancy. Bevilled edges and all. now that is a long term tank!
  10. oh i know but when you tell customers to go home and do water changes, 8 out of 10 times, (seriously) you'll get the - "Isn't there something I can put in my tank and fit it?" reply. I swear on my own life. But I do have evidence Ryan; it took about 7 days less to cycle a 68L tank with cycle and fish than it did the normal way. people swear by TLC something-or-the-other. That works well. Instant cycle apparently. David - I grow plants. I have to be patient  Neither would I. Not in a million years.
  11. I still think it works. Speeds up the time to cycle a tank, and those of you who don't believe in it have no evidence to say other wise. I on the other hand can prove that the tank will cycle faster with a product like cycle. Fact is 99% of people don't know how it works; when to use it and 90% of people selling it don't really know what they are selling and thus don't know how it works. I've had several conversations with people trying to tell them that Cycle + water in no way cycles a tank.
  12. None. You need a big tank. 3 ft is a grow out. 4 ft is a longer term option.
  13. There is separation between the broken ends because the bones grow and fuse together well; almost like a bone lengthening surgery. It also has to heal in the most natural position so that the bird can rehabilitate ASAP.
  14. whoa. They have the coolest eggs by far! One egg even sort of looks like a fish face.
  15. Royals are territorial by nature, and need wood in their diet. A very good quality algae wafer like hikari is what they should be fed on as well. as far as compatibility goes, well that depends on how large your tank is.
  16. That's what we are trying to say. There is too many fish in the tank as is. Do not add more, unless you remove the CLs, discus. Putting more fish in that tank is about as practical as walking across the harbour bridge, drunk, with an umbrella in the wind and in high heels! PS- It just means that I struggle to be subtle, and just blurt out what I think sometimes.
  17. Ah yes. I have spent all day analysing General Disclosure Statements for 19 Registered Banks The intended word was - baCk
  18. Bank in the day it was considered unlucky to type out pleco because then your pleco would die. Pl*co it was then on...
  19. No.. there is nothing wrong with the electrics, or the most recent batch of german blues. I even have babies that someone bred from and they are fine. Also have the blue veil tails and apart from a certain incident of a disease i will not mention  there were no problems there either.
  20. I am about as subtle as that bull in the vero ads. However I do know that I can't convince everyone, so I'll just stop now.
  21. :-? Subtle about what exactly?
  22. yep. and as long as that tank is totally covered, you should be fine.
