  1. L002, and that pecklotia that is sold as big band tiger pleco. Couple of ancistrus species.
  2. If the plants are healthy even a couple hours of light will be fine. You can do a 5 day black out if you need to.
  3. Sweet. I would have loved to observe that surgery.
  4. haha between job number1, job number 2, university, assignments and exams; nights out occasionally - it doesn't leave time for much else. This place is like solace for me
  5. Yep. heaps come in dwarf size. L002 for example. Others would be L270, L066, L046  and many more.
  6. LOL  This is possibly the best part about royals. PC will list about 6-7 L027s. Then they start on the L027As and Bs and Cs
  7. That's still pretty good! They aren't exactly easy to rear.
  8. Ah yes.... Panaque is a large genus that includes the Royals. There are a few different types of Royal plecos as well  Have a look through here - http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/ge ... _id=27#337 The Dull Eye is L191 and one of my favourites, and is more likely to be sold as "royal pleco" here. Some royals become absolute monsters
  9. Any fish shop can get you a Royal. You won't know the type of Royal until you get it, and its been a while since I ordered one in so I don't know what it will be either. Last time I got one, it was a dull eye and I was stoked!
  10. get those puffy head acaras that DavidR had at one point. Not sure if he still has them but I think they were called "threadfin acaras" on the lists. They were awesome.
  11. Much, much nicer. Suffice to say I would be happy to see that tank in my house.
  12. I don't think you poured ammonia all over her. You just added a few drops of the first reagent.
  13. Lighting controllers were an extremely unsuccessful product here in NZ particularly because of the high price which meant people could buy an entire unit for the price of the controllers. I have made an enquiry about a controller just last week from the wholesaler (no I cannot name them) but any store that has some knowledge about what they are can order a few sizes in for you. from memory I recall 18W, 30W? and a couple others and size dependent they were about $120 or so for a double controller which obviously has sockets for 2 lights.
  14. I think that's what its called. Either that or that sandpit sand / play sand?
  15. You might want to try a larger tank without a lid that keeps the heat is as well. That might help too.
  16. Yeah. I never cleaned the tank because I knew the micro organisms on the plants and gravel were going to do wonders for the few babies that I had. I still recommend liquifry. It's cheap and by my reasoning it was specifically made for baby fish so it must have something in it that enhances growth and builds the immune system or something like that. At the stage your fry are at, at the moment I was feeding decap BS and liquifry as well. Then i increased the amount of BS until I didn't need the liquifry any more. Today the babies I have are 9 weeks old, and I have already taken out the male I wish to keep and a female who is bright yellow and is ready to breed. Won't breed her yet though because she is only about 3cm long. From a batch of 10-11; I got 2 females, and now one of those females is developing distinctly male characteristics  which is not good because now im left with all but one female; maybe the second female will make her mind up if i remove the yellow alpha female. How many do you have now? The colours of the baby males are absolutely amazing; just like their dad, which is why I am holding on to them for so long. Didn't want to sell washed out looking babies. Hopefully the breeding is done right from the start and your batch size looks at least three times more promising than mine! I've lost my original pair too; so that's 2 pairs down and a few babies to show for it.
  17. Thanks, I shuffle between a few landscapes - Never any thing too cluttery
