  2. was hoping for some tips guys and was going to get a few outside tanks in production.
  3. very nice fish you should get some nice looking young from them! good luck with your bettas!!!!!!!!
  4. may have been didturbed when you were doing the clean up, very shy little guys
  5. huge discus!!!! looking good :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  6. haha I did the exact same thing the other day with a small spotted puffer! except the guy in the store said they do fine in a normal tank all their life...
  7. T-shirt Summer or Winter?
  8. Luckily I bought my 8 month old son a paddling pool for Christmas, he will be easy to convince setting it up as a barb pond but I may have to work on the miss haha! If by chance I do set it up in the good old Waikato you think they would get on ok? I am still amazed you can do that with tropicas. Although when I was younger I put some platys in a farm trough to reduce numbers and ironically enough ended up having a lot more in a few weeks haha
  9. yeh it realy sux that she died. the male ended up attacking the sword tails aswell. the bubys are in a 30L tank and growing quick, I even have a couple in my big comunity tank that are surviving! neat little things and very active.
  10. they have been realy expensive here, the lowest Iv seen them has been like $80. there is a silver aro in a pet shop in Hamilton for only $99 which i thought was realy good.
  11. wow that is such a cool setup reptilenutt! we are hoping to do something like that one day for the blue tounges.
  12. just updating my kribs. the female began to be real protective against the male for about three days then the male killed the female.... the male is now a verry good dad and has a couple of hundred babys swimming around the tank with him and growing fast!
  13. so they are ok out there at night time too? doesnt get too chillie for them haha? will you cover them up at night, and is it just oxygen weed you put out in the pic? good luck with breeding them outside will be cool to see how many you gey ay!!!
  14. Alot of the time they need a fair bit of surface area to spawn. When they are in a pond the femal will not be harrased as much and they will most likely be more successful. In the tank the female will be harrased too much and spawning may not take place. If you dont have a pond try something bigger as it seems you have good breeding golsfish there. good luck!
  15. some of my tadpoles have come out of the water and are froglets. Just wondering what you feed them when they are small froglets?
  16. haha lucky oscar! the tank they are in is at my parents so I wont be there much to look after them... There only in with some sword tails so you reckon the parents will look after them ok?
  17. I think thet were stolen, they seem pritty tame when its feeding time in the picture so could have been a quick few scoops with a net... although it would look suspisouse walking aroung with a big fishing net haha. I dont think it would be the birds as they would still be hanging out or seen at some point... and there would likely be some fish still cowaring under the deck. that realy sucks about your fish! hope there are some fry in there to populate again. Would recomend putting up the mesh again to stop birds, people, aliens and god lol.
  18. Finaly my krib pair have spawned and now have a bunch of little wrigglers in the tank! pritty stocked as i have been able to breed every other fish I wanted but not the rabbits of the aquariums haha!
  19. yeh the females grow way bigger than the males and seem to be bulkier in general. when i was breeding them I had 2 big females and 3 males in a bare bottom tank. Realy easy fish to get to spawn. 20% water change every day while feeding up on bloodworm then at the end of the week a big 50% cold water change and you should get hundreds of eggs! raising them is a different story tho haha
  20. yeh I know thats why I was asking if anyone here had any so I could price how much a group would cost.
  21. wow that is realy good getting them all to hatch! so they are not too hard to rais so far? I think I might buy the ones here ay and see what happens,.
  22. Moving away from tropical fish because of space, heating and filters and going for amphibians. Already have frogs and tadpoles (still looking for mare adult gold bells) and was wondering if anyone had fire bellied newts out there? There are two here at the goldfish bowl for $40 each and are very small. help would be great! thanks
