  1. Ok I know they are meant to be easy as anything but would like to hear how other people have been successfull, what the best results came from and what not? Just got 10 of them and keen to get breeding lol
  2. our one use to eat the arowana pellets, insects and small fish. Realy cool to watch, people thing they are boring but if you watch them enough you will be surprised lol. They are carniverouse like aros so flakes wont be any good for them
  3. I am getting a big tank for my two water dragons as soon as my arowana finds a new home. I have a heater in the water whuch will be on one half of the tank. I was wondering what plands would survive with this tem and humidety? Reeds and rive plans? Grass? As it is a masive tank I would like to make it as natural as possible. Any help would be great
  4. my female went crazy and made her own bubble nest, spawned on her own and protected the eggs like a male when I had mine seperated for breeding. They can be a bit funny, but you should only do this before spawning them or the females can get aggressibne to each other also
  5. Yep they are def tropical, they are black but I am not sure on what type they are. I know they are tricky to feed but they seem to be doing good there, I will try and take a pic today for everyone. p.s sorry I took so long to reply lol
  6. Hi there guys, now this may seem a strange thing to ask BUT.... Is there anyone out there who can offer stud services for out big female Blue Tounge? We are in Cambridge and both students so dont realy want to buy another $500+ lizard. Just wondering if there was anyone out ther who would be willing to help, as it is a shame such a big healthy female aint making babies lol! Maybe the young born could be split between us? drop a line if anyone thinks this is a good idea. Mark and Jenny
  7. I have a group of rams and am wanting to divide my 1.2m tanks so that I can have a breeding pair seperate from the rest of them. I was going to drill holes in them so I only need one heater in the tank. When wold I get this from that would be suitable for an aquarium? Thanks guys

There are sea horses at the goldfish bowl in Hamilton! They are sooo cool and interesting to watch! Just thought I would mention it haha
  10. two footer, been cycling for a week or so, aqua one filter (250lph) 55wheater, temp around 24-26degrees, air pump, water ph 7.5, one silver shark now. two angels died within 30hours of purches.
  11. I am writing on behalf of a friend. His tank has quickly developed white stringy like fungus stuff over it. I is over the filter, heater, drift wood and has killed and settled on the fish. Does anyone have any idea what this is and what he can do to stop it?
  12. Sweet I have them, now I will need advice as to what people feed these guys? So far I have given them flake food and blood worm, but getting them algea pelets today.
  13. havent got them yet but was thinking about getting some today
  14. Am I correct in assuming that the males are larger with 'beards' on the side of their heads like other whiptails or are these ones different?
  15. Yeh Im sure it was a male it was fanning, I talked to the owner of the goldfish bowl and he has them on his list aslo as flat head gold nugget. I asked him to phone the suppliers and see if they had a large female or one with no bristles lol. He said he will sell for 160. (p.s I was in there at the same time Mark Elrick BTW). Could be good if he gets a female and could easily get them breeding ay! I ordered a pair of long nosed whips to have a crack at breeding.
  16. It looks realy good, been watching you do this from the start and it even inspired me on having a go. Made alot of mess but its looking ok. Done the 1st layer of concreet but it will def need another layer on it. Not as good as yours but i am hopeful haha
  17. I am in Cambridge and there arnt many native creeks and water ways around but I am realy keen to have a look at night time at one and see or maybe even catch a couple of cray fish or bullies for one of my tanks. anyone know of any around?
  18. we got ours off trademe and most of the real estate people have there listings on there anyways. Bond yeh its a bit of an ouch but kinda has to be done ay. We are in a house that states no pets and we have 2 aquariums, 2 water dragons, a blue tongue and a newt. I think the no pet thing generaly applies to no cats or dogs. But if you are polite and make a fair point they are generaly pritty good with whatever. good luck
  19. We have five kittens at our place, they were a litter from a stray in our area. My partner has taken them in and has cared for them. She intends to socialise them so that they can be rehomed. Very lovely and helthy, (1 tabby grey, 1 solid grey, 1 ginger, 1 grey marble and one grey and white). Not sure of sex at the moment. My partner does vet nursing so she is taking this very seriously and can get them spayed for a discounted rate (I think $40 or so). Will be looking for good homes for these little guys so if anyone is interested and can provide a loving home for them pm me and we can talk. Mark

    My Fighters

I thought the same as you, but stick at it and they will eventually get at it lol. they are very rewarding to grow the fry and see them develope their colours and fin types! good luck to you
  21. I had a tank of females (5 of them) feeding them up for breeding. they decided they wanted to breed now and they mad a bubble nest an layed their eggs. Looked after them in the nest for a couple of days untill I actualy gave them a male. Females ay haha
  22. A very nice collection congrats! Makes me miss my plecos lol I like the spoted GBA she is nice (even if some would attack me about the pure strain dilema haha)
  23. you have some beautiful dragons buldog! I think we are all jelous haha
  24. my water dragons were the same, but I got some advice to put the vedges in a bowl with some meal worm. After they figured out they wernt getting yummy crickets every day they have come around haha. It will be the same for your baby (infact beardies should be easier). I fell into the same trap with spoiling the little guys as Dave.
  25. Hmmm I also think that they are way too small, and if the seller was knowledgeable enough to successfully spawn and hatch two sets of young why would he be reckless enough to kill them on a simple water change and giving them a poor diet. Sounds similar to the trademe add for a breeding pair of common plecos in a two foot tank... They are beautiful fish, but if they were successful breeders I’m sure he would have mentioned that in the auction at least, not when you contact him in regards to clarification on the species. I think it was a good buy on your part and am jealous az lol but think he is lying to you (which is very unfair considering the money you will have forked out for them).
