  1. I have one on a 254 ltr tank. Nice filter.
  2. Wall tanks can be cool. Creatures are prone to sitting on them......
  3. Ya gotta have fun at work eh Rabbit :slfg:
  4. Tried a luggage shop? People buy luggage when they travel, so often luggage shops will have them as an easy "extra sale" (a bit more expensive than the other suggestions), but as you said most shops stock "Everything" converted to NZ.

If you replace the double/queen/king bed with a single, then this creates a degree of space :digH: It's all about priorities and choices :sml1: :sml1: Cheers

Hi, A more real issue that you may have is that the smaller pleco's are actually not very aggressive feeders. From what I know of Africans, and I am by no means an expert in that area, is that they tend to be fairly aggressive feeders, so by the time you pour enough food in there for your expensive pleco to get a feed, your fish keeping experience will become quite different. So even if you find a pleco that can live in the water, and if you can find one in NZ, then the next question becomes, can it be kept alive? Just another thought. Go on get another tank. You know you want to :happy2: Cheers.
  7. My family bought a batch there in 1978, that we still have. Can spot that pensula with the sticky up trees anywhere. Lots of good memories there. And surprising how many people go there.

fancy plecos mostly means NOT "common" or sailfin, generally don't get bigger than 15cm - but there are always exceptions. So adult < 15cm = fancy and / or baby > $50 = fancy examples. Royals. Size > 15cm but babies cost more than $50 therefore Fancy. L140. Size < 15cm babies around $30 therefore fancy. "common" Size > 15cm babies cost < $50 therefore not fancy. Its just a rough guide without getting into species names and all that stuff, that can be looked up on catfish forums etc.

I have had my Flash plec's in the 7.6-7.8 zone for a while, but it became hard for me to keep the pH that high with consistancy. They were doing fine. Not sure if you can get one of them at the moment though?
  10. Hey Li@m, were you walking the beach between Omori and Pukawa to get a couple of those pic's at lake taupo? Cheers
  11. :bounce: Bounce .... Bump .... Close enough :dunno:
  12. Hi, P44 has a gmail account........ I think that you need to create the FNZAS account with a non gmail / hotmail type account. Then you can change email account to be the gmail account, after the FNZAS account has been created. The edit account has different validation logic. Cheers OR as SamH said....... man I type too slow
  13. Any of the Peckoltia species would be good, L140, L134 etc Any of the small panaque would be good, L002, L204 Any of the Ancistrus would be good. There are quite a few choices in NZ. In a nice planted tank a large long fin bristlenose would look kinda cool. Cheers
  14. I think it depends more on the individual fish with this species. I am not sure that I would "employ" one of these for the purpose of an algae cleaner in a community tank, yet in my species only tank I have never had to clean the glass. Cheers
  15. I had about 300 one year old bristlenose in a smaller tank for a while. You won't be doing water changes like I was, but no you don't have too many bristlenose. If you add more caves you will have less fighting, but soon you will have many more bristlenose :rotf: I find that loaches are usually the best form of contraception for bristlenose. If you take out all the caves, but still have plenty of hiding spots, then the fighting will also stop. In other words remove the need to protect a territory, by either removing the territory or providing more territories than fish. Cheers
  16. Not in the near future. I have a small 9cm? Gold nugget in with a L260 and some bristlenose. There is no aggression. (but lots of spots to hide in) The gold nugget likes it a bit warmer 26-30C The gold nuggets will get to 30-35cm, and at that size they can be a handful, but you have a few years before they get that size
  17. Awesome, You found 1 actual recorded report, people mentioning that there was a breeding and saying they will find the links and not finding them, and some generic "how to" stuff where you could replace the pleco name with any old pleco name. The point is (as it relates to the original question) the Gold Nugget is rather difficult to spawn, and won't cross with a bristle nose. We are all entitled to our opinions, some people are just better informed than others. Cheers Geoff
  18. Hi, You can't cross breed a gold nugget with a bristlenose. There has only been 2 people who have recorded breeding gold nuggets in captivity so I wouldn't worry too much about that. If you had a tank with different hypancistrus species in it then that would be a different story. Cheers.
  19. I guess you guys have no imagination then? Currently I have 3,500 liters of tanks. I may be able to cope with 35,000 liters by myself, however that would prevent trips to the Amazon and Germany, and other places to select more fish. Now 350,000 liters would just leave me wondering if I needed some staff to assist me. Perhaps Staff is the wrong word. Let's replace staff with independant contractors. Having people to help you with the daily chores while you help them learn to care for fishes, and grow the hobbie etc, is all part of fish keeping too!
  20. Imagine the staff you could have looking after the fish tanks..... I would need staff the way I think
  21. They should be fine with sand. Some of my tanks have sand and it's not a bother for he BN. Cheers
