Hi, Just thought I'd try post a photo of my latest batch of dwarf flag cichlid babies. I haven't had much luck raising them but have got brine shrimp and microworms to feed them now (thanks Johannes! ) They just became free-swimming today so I've tried to feed them some brine shrimp.

A branch from my neighbour's tree just fell into my garden.... luckily it's not too big. But not looking forward to the storm getting worse

I have 2 cherry barb males and 3 females. The males seem to chase anything close to their size - e.g. neons, glowlights, baby platies. I even saw one chase an adult platy once. I thought cherry barbs were meant to be placid? Anyone else with cherry barbs like this?

Congrats Amazonian, looking good. I came back from my holiday in Nelson to find the dwarf flag babies had survived, but the next day they were gone I think I need to convert the tank to a bare one as there's quite a lot of algae in there since I removed the bristlenose from it.

How about a gold gourami?

Hi Skaffen, Hollywood Fish Farm usually has Bolivian Rams. I can't remember if they had them the last time I went, sorry :oops: What colour platies do you have?

The black case doesn't seem to get too hot, just nicely warm. Though I think one of the bulbs in it is quite weak.

Hi Tinytawnykitten, Your tank looks cool I got one of those lights from Origin Aquatics too and it makes my tank look so much better, and the plants are growing lots better now.

Thanks for the tips guys I tried some boiled egg last night but couldn't tell if they ate any. They seem to be getting bigger so I guess they're finding something to eat. The parents are really good. I actually shifted the parents and the rock with eggs on it from my big community tank to a smaller tank and they still guarded the eggs and are great with the fry.

Thanks guys I'll try the boiled egg and see how that goes. They're so tiny compared with the size of the tank - how do you make sure they actually get to the food? Also, do people usually leave the fry in with the parents? cheers, Sarah

Hi, I've got some dwarf cichlid fry at the moment and would like some tips on how to look after them. It's almost 2 weeks since the eggs were laid, and there's about 10 little fry left. They're in a 50L planted tank with their parents. I've been giving them some liquifry stuff but is that the correct thing to do? Or should there be enough fragments from the parent's food to feed them? Also, would it be safe to do a water change or would it aggravate the parent fish too much? The ammonia and nitrite levels seem okay so far (both nil) Thanks in advance, Sarah

Thanks everyone I got them from Hollywood Fish Farm in Mt Roskill. Unfortunately today they are very chilled out and the female isn't chasing the other tank mates anymore. And no sign of the babies

How old are yours Afrikan? How many do you have? I spent ages thinking about what types of dwarf cichlid to get for my 3 foot tank, and so far I'm really glad I got these ones. It was my boyfriend's suggestion to get them actually. Here's some pics. They're not great photos but will give you an idea.
