  1. It should, but it will form to whatever distorted shape the melted PVC ends up in...
  2. They say a 200L with heaps of liverock should be fine for 1 mandarin. So say for a pair you'd want 400L+ a large sump full of liverock+a refugium and they should have heaps of food.
  3. That's what I use, Weka. Bought a big roll of it. Bit of a pain to get it in there nicely, but seems to work well with a bunch of double sided tape.
  4. Snails are great. Great little algae eaters and puffer food. I wish I had more snails!

Mountain dew is nothing like vodka. Vodka=alcohol. Mountain Dew= Antifreeze.

Ugh, more Layton BB Nazi-ism. *Hits back*
  7. Not that common, I don't have any in my tank! Need to get some. They're cool.

Yup. I'll be home March 3rd. I'm pretty disappointed with equipment here though, not much more than pumps and filters. Picked up 300 grams of strontium powder for $12nz though.
  9. Yeah, most current CPUs are in the 100+ watt of thermal heat range. May not be a problem for an average sized tank in cooler weather. But a hot day could easily overheat the tank. But at least your CPU would be nice and cool and you can play Half Life 2 with really good frame rates...

One of the shops here in Anchorage had a small Snowflake Moray, I don't remember the exact price, but it was somewhere around $75 NZ! Got a pic of this stunning looking fish, I don't know what exactly it was. Looked sorta like a little black batfish with really high top and bottom with a ring of orange all around its body. Man, so many cool animals, I never appreciated it when I lived here.
  11. I think if you're breaking even breeding on a non-commercial scale you're doing well. Now, if you're breeding fish in a tank that you'd be running anyway, like say bristlenose in a community tank for example then that's almost pure profit. But you're not going to make much money. Maybe enough to pay for some fish food occasionally. I think realistically people would be happier if they aim for that instead of trying for "a nice little earner"
  12. Just like how you can feed chicken to a cat but have to feed steak to people because their metabolism is different and humans can't handle chicken...
  13. All the UV-C that the bulbs give off would have been absorbed far up in the ozone layer. It's just a bit of UV-A and UV-B that reaches the surface and they're relatively harmless.
  14. Even if the resistors are a bit too high resistance it's not going to make a huge difference. They'll be good enough. most of them come with resistors for 12v.

Might be a bit more than that for the marine tank. We have 3 other good sized tanks, underfloor heating and a spa.
  16. AAHHH! Pearl gouramis! *Runs in terror and hides*

Mine's about $60ish for the marine tank. Around $350 or so total.

    MH Hours

What I'd like is an approx brightness at given water depths than knowing what other people have.
  19. Scribble an address and put a stamp on their shell and use a strip of tape to keep their head and legs in their shell so they don't walk away from the postman. Then just drop them in the mailbox. Easy!
  20. Maybe you should have used a Seio?

    MH Hours

Hmmm, Mine are on for 12 hours. If I cut that down to 8 hours they won't be coming on until 3:30pm! Might drop it down a few hours though.

    Sad looking tank

I don't think 7 is a problem unless you have a tank of that ugly SPS stuff...

    Shrimp?

There's glass shrimp which are usually just something someone caught from a local stream. That's it, no other shrimps.
  24. my 2213 clogs up in less than a week and I usually have to siphon through it into a bucket. Unlike the fluvals which usually go straight off and only need a little shaking to help clear their throats.
