  1. No, it's not true. In fact, a larger amount of water will take proportionately less. More like the other way around, twice as much power to heat 4 times the water. As a tank gets larger(with the same proportions) , say double the dimensions, the surface area of the tank will go up 4X but the volume will increase by 8 times. It's the surface area that the heat is lost through, volume is pretty much irrelevant. Calculate the relative surface area of the two and you'll get approximately the relative cost for heating.
  2. If you know how much for a 160, then do the math. It'll be roughly twice as much.

    fish room

Then please tell the glazier to give me my excess back.
  4. Why would you want to breed them? EVERYONE breeds them. They breed like rabbits.
  5. I don't want the cup, I want some GM danios.

    fish room

Free if you ignore the excess...
  7. That's stupid. They're usually only 50 watts. Which won't even heat the room noticably. But at least he could run it 24 hours a day all month for about $7.50.

    Danio jumped

Stress, boredom, hunger, movement, food, hapiness, water movement, bubbles, lack of bubbles, lots of light, little light and the sky being the wrong shade of blue.
  9. I think guppies always produce something like a 2:1 ratio in favor of females.
  10. I once saw Blue Oyster Cult. Apparently all their songs except for Don't Fear the Reaper suck. Heh...It was free.
  11. Shouldn't unless they happen to be on the same frequency, most of them are frequency hopping. Haven't flown it yet and when I was showing it off at the club night last night...It stopped working. Now it's working again. I think it might have been a plug that came loose, I'm not quite sure.
  12. My understanding was that it's lately been interpreted to cover sellers selling on trademe commercially. Which there are heaps. (And they all seem to be asian?)
  13. You're supposed to use them as a starter culture.
  14. I'll watch your bichir for you, as long as you don't expect to get it back.
  15. T5s (And T8s) waste about the same amount of power as heat as metal halides do. Metal halide efficiency ranges from 60-110 lumens/watt, Fluoros from around 50-100 lm/watt. A double ended metal halide with a good reflector would be towards the high end of that range, similar with a good T5 with good reflector. T5s and T8s just spread it out over a couple feet rather than a couple inches.
  16. Just get a metal halide.
  17. I'd just throw a spare blanket or something over it.

    Severums

I don't really care if it's a heros severum or not, I want two of them!
  19. Huh...I thought Burger Fuel's burgers were pretty small when I had one.
  20. Looks like I need to finish reading the replies before I post and make myself look like an idiot.
  21. Most cameras also have a timer function. Then you don't need to waste money buying a remote. Timer will do the same thing.
  22. Somewhere a math teacher is rolling in his grave...
  23. Nope, it's a kyosho trainer. Predecessor to the Kyosho Calmato. Don't think I'll be able to get any pics, I don't have anything I can plug into the receiver to record video.
  24. Because the fuselage should be more stable so hopefully vibration won't move the camera as much. The wings are made of thin balsa covered foam which wouldn't hold a screw very well. I could have put it on the top of the wing where it is more solid, except that spot gets a bit of exhaust on it. The exhaust contains nitromethane(Used as an industrial solvent) and methanol(Also used as an industrial solvent) I don't want either of those on my $150NZ camera. The propwash from the propeller won't be a concern and the extra drag is insignificant given that the plane is designed to (And does) fly well on a weak .40 cubic 1 HP engine and is currently powered by a .61 2.2 horsepower engine.
