  1. I haven't bought a heater in 3-4 years, Maybe I'll check one out in a few years...
  2. That would be fine. Current cats nicknames are big s***, little s*** and seetsy.
  3. I still plan to name our next cat Entropy, I don't think wifey will allow that though.

    USING CARBON

You mean like a water change? Cheaper than carbon, lasts a week or two.
  5. Pretty sure it said 50 watts on the top of my 404s. And it all adds up if you're using 4+big externals...But still a fraction of the cost of heating, lighting, feeding, etc.
  6. I think that's the max draw, probably would only draw that when clogged up. But anyway filters like the 404 are rated at 50watts and they flow half the volume. Say you get a filter that uses 25 watts less that's only saving you $4/month. That's nothing.
  7. How much was it? I had a look at Stihls when I was thinking of getting a chainsaw. I think all the prices I saw for the smallest ones were over $1K.
  8. Length X Width X height=volume. Plug it into a calculator.

    Fluval Edge...

Most LED halogen replacements produce a lot less light than the original halogens though. Not really going to work if your goal is more light.

    Demotivators!

That one makes me think of Garbage Pail kids cards.
  16. Also depends on wear and tear on the filter, the aligment of the stars and proximity of cats. I had one 404 that was pretty silent until the cats were running around one day and bumped into it. Suddenly, NOISY. Even after replacing the impeller, shaft and impeller chamber cover.
  17. That's an extremely likely possibility. Most of the fish bred by hobbiests have a family tree that looks sort of like...
  18. Find some scrap glass, maybe the same place will sell you some offcuts then cut them yourself. You can get a glass cutter for somewhere around $10.
  19. If money is no object put the cannisters in a concrete lined sump room under the house.
  20. Nope, they're a required brake light and they're required to be working. If you have one that's made up of a couple dozen little bulbs you're allowed to have a couple of them burned out, but it's something like 75% or greater must work.
  21. Lucky for you there's no such thing as a good or edible mushroom.
  22. Also a symptom of fish TB, iirc.
