MDF is ok if you paint it well. The hardest bit is making the thing level enough. To stop wobbling give the stand a backing or a plank going diagonaly across the back.

Best place I have seen for black sand is on stewart Island cant remember the name of the beach though. I know its not too helpful but I just thought Id share that. I have bag of it, never thought of using it it in a tank. I thought black sand was iron and can be magnetic, wouldnt affect heaters etc?

The festivum will slaughter little tetras. Do not beleave what it says on the internet about them being peaceful. Ask any owners of them on here they get very aggresize when mature. They may be my favourite fish but I wouldnt get one because I like my current fish too much. Also Just a question are you planning to get one from organism?

I used to get them alot. We got theem from somethinged downloaded that contained spyware. They seem to immune to popup blockers but Most antivirues will get rid of it.

There are a few tiny streams going in and one large one going out. The stream going is fairly fast flowing but not to much. But that end of the lake is covered with reeds and there are suposibly eels living there. Do they have an annual breeding cycle? What time of year do they lay their eggs? How big do Koaro get in aquariums usally?, The site says a 27cm one was found in lake wanaka.

They are Koaro, I think from looking at profiles on the web. They are about the only galaxid found in the lake hayes/ lake wakatipu area. From the top they look stripey. It is getting cold now so they are the in deeper waters and it is freezing trying to catch them. I really need a bigger net. I am considering getting them In a frog tank but I understand they get very large. Maybe with goldfish in tub/bath thing I am going to eventually do when I get around to it. :lol: Thanks Guys for helping me. (No sarcasm intended)

Can they be kept in tropical water temp like 22-25? What kind of filter is best for them? In maybe a 54+ litre Can you find them over winter? Apart from trademe.

In all pets shops It should be compolsery to enter you must read a sign that saysCLOWN FISH OR ARE NOT NEMO There should also be law banning the naming of goldfish after nemo or dory! I cringe every time I hear that someones goldfish is called nemo.

honestly I have to say the the aquascaping in the old tank is better. What happend the large plant with long thin stalks? but the overall setup in the new tank is much nicer.

Better topic: How many times caryl's Avatar blinks per second, I say it blinks every 0.83 seconds or so. I looks like it blinks faster sometimes to screw up my counting. :lol:
