The only way I can photograph these guys is by putting them into a glass, then they seem quite happy to pose lol, either that or they get totally annoyed with me! I have spent AGES in front of tanks trying to get pics and I wasted much time, wish I had of thought of the glass sooner lol.

Okay thanks point taken...no hands in tank lol. I would love to have eggs from these two...and also I have never had experience with eggs or breeding parents so I'm quite keen to watch the whole process

argh lol, that would be my luck...but everything I have read on the net about the spawning of severums say that they will lock lips and 'slap their tails'....just before spawning.

At the moment I am watching my two gold severums in a massive lip locking session and their tails are wagging wildly! I separated them a while back and have now only just put them back int together and this is what they have started doing YAY! Hopefully I'll get them spawning! :bounce:

aah okay, I am watching her carefully at the moment as I would love to breed off these too. She also won't let the severum in the cave and he used to often hang out in there with the male redhead...shes claimed the cave and told them all to back off lol.

look like?? I have searched on the web for a good description but :-? I'm wanting to know this because the dynamics between my redhead cichlids has changed. SHE is now guarding the cave, he is in another, both of them have all their fins standing up on end and she does a sideways shimmer type movement in the cave and I wondering what she is doing. Hi all Right, I have two Gold Severums, I think they would be young as they are only approx 8-10cm in length. Male and female I am assuming as one has very definite markings on face area while the other doesn't. The problem is this....'he' will not leave 'her' alone, won't let her eat, won't let her come out from behind the plants....and 'she' looks terrified lol. She hides behind the plants up against the glass and sits there all day almost vertical, while he swims all over the tank! Now, should I move her? Is this normal? 'He' is annoying me because it looks mean but I have never had these fish so not too sure about their nature towards each other etc. 'He' gets on really well with the tank mates, Redhead Cichlids....just not her. MALE?? FEMALE??
