  1. I got the results of the biopsy yesterday and it is actually not as good as they first thought. It is lymphoma and of the 5 lymphomas it could have been, it is the worst. She will have the surgery on Tuesday and then some chemo over 3 months but she is only likely to live a year. It is a real blow cos we were kind of lulled into a false sense of security. And goodness knows how I am going to afford it. The operation alone is over $1000. I know the money isn't important but it is when you haven't got it.
  2. LOL something like 30,000 NZers leave to live in Australia each year. It makes me wonder how there is anyone left here!!
  3. Oh that's really kind. If I think of anything I will PM you. If you want somewhere to crash if you have some downtime my door is always open to you. Sorry to hear about your boy, this growth is partly obstructing her bowel I think. I don't really know the ins and outs of it but it was definitely good rather than bad. Have you ever seen Rex The Runt? Quite similar.
  4. Well she had her scan today and it is a large cancerous growth but it is contained so they think they are going to be able to fully remove it!! :bounce: :bounce:
  5. No news yet, her name is Katy. This is her with her sister Lily when they were kittens...
  6. Thanks. I like your avatar. Is that Domo?
  7. Thanks I just wanted to tell some people who were animal lovers like myself.
  8. Our beautiful little 8 year old bicolour siamese has just been to the vet today and has a large (7cm across) mass inside her. She is the most beautiful little cat. She will have an ultrasound on Tuesday in Lower Hutt to see whether it has spread or whether it can be removed. I am devastated about it.

    HRV

Super sweet I'll be out to collect it in the morning. If you're going out just leave it on the porch.

    HRV

Good oh. I will be sure to tell you how awful it is when I have it installed

    HRV

I have spoken to Temperature Solutions about the Losnay and they said it will be around the $7000 mark. To me that is a lot more than $3000 but perhaps you have more money to throw around. HRV didn't make any claims about the house being warmer. Any halfwit can understand that.

    HRV

That is really good to hear, has somewhat helped to abate my freaking out about spending $3000!

    HRV

Well I have just signed up to have HRV installed having read this thread. I will be interested to see how it goes. My house gets loads of sun but has big condensation/mould problems so it sounds like it will be a good candidate for it.
  14. Can you make chocolate voodoo dolls? My favourite is anything done in the slow cooker (it makes me feel smug coming home to that lovely smell wafting through the house) and the curried Kumara Soup recipe from the Edmonds cookbook. Yum
  15. Wild Steve Irwin or David Attenborough?
  16. They are all males, and my bad, they are dageti not striped panchax. I just had that name in my head for some reason.
  17. Wha? 6 striped panchax, 2 australe golds, 2 australe chocolats. What would a biotope tank consist of?
  18. I have an 80L tank which at the moment is only housing 6 neon tetras about 6 little killies, but I would like to change it into a killies only tank and am looking for some inspiration for reaquascaping the tank. I have a nice bunch of christmas moss so far. Any links/pics would be appreciated!
  19. Doh, just re-read your post. Looking forward to pics

    HRV

I am so glad of this thread cos we are going through the same decision. Any thoughts about choosing HRV vs. DVS vs. Moisture Master? I don't like the sound of 'cold drafts' that supasi mentioned. Do you get that with HRV? Our house is a small (95sqm) 3 bedroom house, and we have a flued gas heater in the living room but the bedrooms, especially the one which doesn't get sun, are FREEZING. Stuff on the wardrobe floor gets mouldy, ceilings get mildew spots. Do we need HRV and a heat pump?? Sorry to hijack just desperate for some help in this area!
