  1. Oooh another excuse to post my pic of when I got to hold a chilean rose tarantula...that's me with the blue sleeve It was so soft and slow and beautiful.
  2. There are two sulphur crested cockatoos which I regularly see sitting in the norfolk pine a few metres from our house.
  3. I have voted for Nick. Let us know how he gets on.
  4. I don't have a spare filter or pump for my little teeny tiny spare tank at the moment, what if I put her in a guppy breeder (actually it's bigger than that, one of the 1/2/3 sectioned betta displays) in my community tank? There are only tetras in there at the moment and hopefully they wouldn't be interested in her in the betta box. And I could buy a filter in the meantime and move her into the spare tank once it's set up.
  5. The eye biter isn't coloured up and he is pretty chilled out (if not a little goofy with his big stupid face) and I haven't seen the fryeri displaying any aggression. Perhaps it is the PH which is low, around 7.2. I have silica sand as substrate, one piece of coral, a large piece of driftwood (which I guess doesn't help but the GBAs (forgot to mention 4 little GBAs) like it and it looks nice) and I am not sure about my rocks. They have what looks like fossilised shells in them and I thought they were lime rock? - Should I raise my PH? - How long will she hold for? Should I try and move her into a guppy breeder? It would be kind of nice to raise the fry seeing they are definitely not hybrids.
  6. When I was about 8 I rescued a skink like this from my cat. It was really fat (the skink). I popped it in an old baby bath with dirt and leaves and the sorts of things 8 year old girls think that lizards like, and left it next to my bed and went out for the day. Unbeknownst to me I had left part of the bedsheet draped into the baby bath, which made for easy climbing. The skink climbed into my bed and had 6 little baby skinks.
  7. At Hutt Pets I saw axolotls in a tank with some neon tetras and a couple of other smallish fish (might have been platties but I can't remember). Is this feasible?
  8. I have 4 electric yellows (which I have just seen spawning minutes ago, making this post somewhat redundant now anyway), 5 large male peacocks, 4 female peacocks, 8 mixed cobalt blues, 1 male comp, 1 male fryeri, a pictus cat, and a BGK. The tank is 230-240L, age of fish, don't know sorry.
  9. Awesome stuff that is brilliant, we will be by in February fora visit. Yaaaaaaaaaay!
  10. My filter is working fine but it is kind of fluctuating in its flow. I cleaned the media for the first time on Sunday and I noticed tonight it is doing this. The outflow will flow as normal it kind of pulses about every ten seconds. Is this ok?
  11. She won't go and see a financial planner as far as I can tell. And I don't know whether she will learn from this. From what I know, things have been very bad financially for about 8 months and she has a 'throw caution to the wind' approach about it now, seems to be gaily spending wherever possible before 'all her debt is taken care of by insolvency.
  12. I have a malawi tank and I am still pretty new to the game. They aren't breeding at all and I guess I thought they would. I don't particularly want them to breed because it is not as if I would take any fry out of the tank, but I am just wondering if there is something wrong which is making them not hook up?
  13. Note to self. Never accept a sandwich from Rozski.
  14. Oh ok, I see. To be honest, I would have thought that someone in the business of breeding chihuahuas would know how to spell it. Will be interested to see the answers to Navarre's questions. All except the bread one of course, cos that's just silly. Surely no one would choose white over wholemeal?!
  15. Yeah I was having a look at that. I have already suggested that website to her. I don't really feel that I can say any more to her about it.
  16. My friend is in financial poo, and one of her creditors is threatening bankruptcy. She reckons she is going to move to Australia and become bankrupt from there but that she won't be bankrupt in Australia. I think she thinks everything is going to be fine and dandy. She doesn't have any assets or anything so not much to lose. Surely though it is not that simple? She is a really close friend and I really care about her and don't want her to make a huge mistake. Surely it isn't that simple?
  17. I am assuming you're meaning that your Mum is the 'useless' driver in this instance (although that seems a little harsh?). After all surely she knows she needs to be at a following distance which allows her to stop within half the distance of road between her and the next car, yellow car or no yellow car. I don't agree that speed isn't an issue. It is all very well to blame inattentive or 'useless' drivers (like the ones mentioned above) on accidents, but if you're speeding then you're just as useless as the rest of them and eventually will thankfully be off the roads and in a casket.
  18. I am heading to New Plymouth on the 31st of October. I know it is a while away but you could meet me in Bulls if it suited you and Foxglove could get them to Wellington.
  19. Caryl that looks like a glorious day, one to remember.
