  1. OK I've bitten the bullet and decided to take it. So soon I will have a beautiful 3ft tank for sale with a rimu stand and lid. Watch this space.
  2. He has almost relented! But now I am freaking a little bit about Jim's tank exploding. I know the 4ft isn't anywhere near as big, but how best can I safeguard against this sort of thing happening?
  3. I have a 3ft tank which I am hoping to upgrade to a 4ft (see my 'how to convince my husband' thread in the Off Topic section). Either way, my tank needs some renovation. At the moment it is looking really drab. I have white silica sand as substrate, shell rocks/limestone rocks (not sure which - it is from Whakatiki Concrete & Soil Supplies in Upper Hutt) piled up, and a little bit of driftwood (back right). I don't have a background at the moment because I did used to have a black background but found it really hard to clean the algae off the glass at the back of the tank and the black background really showed the algae up and it was looking really bad so I took it off. I have a bucket in the shed with about 8 good sized pieces of schist too which I could use. I would love some suggestions to help me rescape, whatever I do I can take it to the next tank if I upgrade.
  4. PHOTOS PLEASE!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  5. Yeah I thought of that but the whole moving thing is a bit of a snag. Shoes are much easier to hide in my bag! My husband did actually concede last that - if I can carry it, I can have it. Hmm.
  6. I have the opportunity to upgrade my 3ft tank to a 4ft tank. 4ft tanks just seem to look so much more spectacular, and you can cram a good few more fish in there. The one I have has a gorgeous rimu stand and lid (foxglove's old one) and this new one would be Alex's and is also solid wood. I REALLY want it, but my husband thinks it is too big. It fits in the space where the 3ft is but he thinks it will make our house look like a 'fish house'. By that he means a house belonging to one of you!!! LOL How can I convince him!??
  7. actually there wasn't much to see but still enough to make me want it.
  8. The episode with the massive fish tank showing now on TV3.
  9. We've rented a house at Matarangi for a week from the 16th. We did the same last year but in Feb. Fantastic place for families. I am counting down the days!
  10. Sweet we are heading to the Coromandel in Jan. I will add it to my little list of things to do!
  11. On Campbell Live a few weeks ago there was a clip about John Campbell doing a small part in the 6th season of OF playing himself interviewing the West family outside the house. Both Cheryl and Pascalle were on set.
  12. Yes that is really wrong you flaming mongrel!
  13. Thanks for all your lovely comments. It means a lot to know there are people out there who love animals.
  14. Me too I am ashamed to say. Although with the cancer rate I'd never want to visit Summer Bay regardless of how good Irene's muffins are. Stone the flaming crows!!
  15. Exactly! 4th season just started on Showtime. Yay!
  16. I know OMG that was such a shock ending!! I can't believe we have to wait until next season to find out! I need to get a life...
  17. After a long battle with lymphoma, as per above, my little Katy was put to sleep this morning. Rest in peace beautiful girl.
  18. You can't beat a digital SLR. www.offtheback.co.nz have a Canon EOS 1000D for $899.99 today. It is an expensive camera but with your Nan's contribution not as much as it could be, and you could always get it on HP from somewhere like Harvey Norman if you can't afford it all up front.
