  1. My L14 is now about 35cm, It's colouring is not as vivid as it was when it was smaller but its still one of my favourite fish.
  2. I was wondering if perhaps he is feeling very threatened and trying to blend in with the black background of the tank?
  3. Yep he had lovely vibrant colour and normal patterning when he was dominant. He is one of my originals that came from Blair so I trust its pedigree.
  4. Aulonocara nyassae 'cobue' He has slowly lost his colour over the last month or so as he became less dominant in the tank but this new split colouration has only appeared in the last couple of days
  5. Can anyone explain why one of my sub-dominant peacock males looks like this on his left hand side And this on his right hand side You can see the line of differentiation in photo #2

  7. Pure water can not be heated over 100deg unless it is done under pressures above 1 atmosphere
  8. I have had my up reg for about 2 years and it still has the original solenoid
  9. This should do the trick. And I can recommend the company. I use them regularly. http://www.fish-street.com/up_co2_regulator_replacement_solenoid?category_id=0&search_string=co2&search_category_id=0
  10. Good old E. Amazonicus is often underrated IMO. Its leaves to get too big or broad and it doesn't get too tall.
  11. I use a Belkin wireless router. They are guaranteed for life. My first one failed about 2 years ago and after a quick phone call a new one arrived in the mail a few days later.
  12. I grow all mine in rainwater which is very soft and has a very low Ph. Added minerals, nutrients and co2 seem to have little effect on growth. The best lighting seems to be 7100K eco fluoro Mine grows like a weed
  13. I have barclaya longiflora seeds germinating in good numbers across two tanks. Tank one being the tank that the parent plants flowered in and tank two being where I transplanted some of the seeds that I collected. There were two parent plants, one red and one green and both produced the seeds about a year ago and haven't flowered since. I had a few seeds germinate a month or so after they were planted but I had given up on the rest I have read that barclaya longiflora can take up to a year to germinate but I didn't really believe it. Has anyone else had any experience with this ?
  14. As Ryan said, water changes are your friend. Before you test anything or do anything else, do a minimum 30% water change
  15. I didn't see the comps the other week. Are they in your work tank?
  16. I would but I can't get back into the ACP  I am surprised that you are still with us LMCB. Is your captor still keeping you in that tiny cage? Edit: I fixed it
  17. From my experiences they grow to 10-12cm are not overly territorial and prefer temps at 24 -22 deg
  18. I was playing with the code on fishkeepers trying to set up a chat room and I ended up breaking the whole bloody thing. It might be a few days before i get it going again :an!gry
  19. It sounds a bit like Ancistrus sp 'rio ucayali' aka spotted BN that have been in the country for a couple of years now.
  20. I send plants wrapped in newspaper 2-3 times a week. The plants have always arrived in good condition. There have never been any toxicity issues with wither plants or fish. I think nearly all news print inks are now soy based and non toxic. newspaper is used to feed worm farms and to make compost.
  21. Have you got a DYI boyfriend? http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/tvs/cables-aerials/auction-411775113.htm
  22. Most likely it contains iron sand or similar. Its great for bringing out the Red Colour in your plants.
