  1. 100cm = 1 metre I think 10cm is a more realistic approximation of adult size
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydor-ETH-300W-In-L ... 20b628e19c
  3. I have a couple of Hydor 300w inline heaters that I bought a couple of years ago on TM but I have never seem them for sale in the shops
  4. Yep mines a good size now. The colours are nowhere near as intense but that is to be expected as it only under T8 lighting. When I get it to reproduce I plan to plant a pup in a tank with MH lighting
  5. Awesome plant and pic P44.
  6. Mine breed in this cave. It looks a similar size to yours
  7. If you prefer to have a large piece of bamboo instead of pvc PM me and I will send you a couple of bigger pieces. Alternatively I have seem people smear the pvc tube with silicone and roll it in river sand to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
  8. Mine breed in bamboo caves. If you cant find a bigger piece of bamboo a piece of pvc pipe with one end blocked off will do the trick.
  9. Thanks Smidey, I have never been a fan of the "secret squirrel" mentality that often comes with the ownership of rare or endangered fish and/or reptiles. For some this mentality comes from the fear of theft and is totally understandable. For others, as Henward has mentioned these are a trophy fish that may offer a sense of eliteness or stature. For me, these fish are purely a chance to... add to my pleco collection, challenge my skills at pleco reproduction, keep this species in NZ and make a little $$ if I'm lucky. I too was guarded about the ownership of my L046 but as time has passed I have come to see that its no big deal. I applaud Jim for being the first to publicly announce that he owned some, I wouldn't have posted my photos otherwise.
  10. Once again joe you have totally missed the point. As far as I am aware, I am the first person in many years to publicly post photo's of their L046 and all want to do is comment on the photo quality  Thanks mate, Feel free to drop in anytime
  11. Sorry joe, I didnt realise that this thread was a photo contest
  12. These pics are not photoshopped or touched up
  13. With the first batch being sold at 3-4cm, I was assuming that these were some of those that hadn't sold.
  14. The Perth Cichlid Society is a very active group. http://www.perthcichlid.com/forum/

  16. I was going to get a live one but blardy MAF wouldn't let me
  17. Good idea but it would probably go off all the time because of nearby plants moving in the breeze. I couldn't resist, I ordered the gator head
  18. Tis very very bad Send it to me. I know how to kill it. It needs to be boiled for 6 minutes, split in half, covered in garlic butter and then finished off on the bbq
  19. You really need to post a photo so that all the guessing games can stop
  20. If your plants are pearling it means that your water is saturated with O2 and that no more will dissolve into it If you find your fish gasping in the morning it is because your plants are using all the available O2 during the night To combat this I have an air pump on a timer that turns on when the lights and C02 turn off.
  21. That fly looks a bit like the March fly that is native to Australia. The odd one may get blown over this way. http://www.ozanimals.com/Insect/March-F ... mily/.html
