  1. That is 2.37 I will never get back.
  2. From what I read it is mostly for parasitic infections. Here is a link with the ingredients listed. Maybe someone in the know can say whether there are other products available here that have these ingredients in. http://en.allexperts.com/q/Freshwater-A ... oducts.htm
  3. Hmmmmm genetic traits genetically based. Who would have thunked it?! They do look a bit freaky. Have you been able to keep track of any released ones, or heard reports of them being able to fend for themselves for an extended period of time? I had that thought knowing that some dogs prey on Hedgehogs.
  4. Yeah, and the talking compost heaps, I secretly wished our compost heap started talking. One day when I was about 7 a got the spade and dug up all this dirt and tried to make a big pile so I could come out and talk to it. Aaahhh good times.
  5. That is hilarious. When I was a kid my Gran made me a Muppet puppet book with every page being a different crafted muppet that did things. The Cook had this crazy scary lobster that you could velcro on in different places. What ever place you stuck it on a claw was poking out an eye. LMAO. I am one of the grumpy cynical men. The Muppet show is my all-time favourite kids show. The Fraggle Rock, and the Wombles of Wimbledon.
  6. Do a search. Profile says Bulls.
  7. http://www.barrreport.com/plantdatabase ... ct=3&cat=3 Also some use a strong solution of Hydrogen Peroxide to disinfect the stones, wood, and tubes. The BBA will turn white when dead. This can take minutes.
  8. The method I used was squirting (with an eyedropper) the daily dose for the tank (1ml/40L) onto the BBA. Within 5 days it was gone. Different spot each day. Some say double dose. I didn't want to risk it. Alternately you could take out the smaller pieces into a holding container and try double dose.
  9. Happy Birthday to your Gran. That is awesome.
  10. Oh, oh, oh do we get to stay up to watch the PG show now?
  11. Isn't the stock/standard *long* answer in this situation "Move to another country where they are legal?"
  12. Not liking the Kiwi is hardly cause for shifting country. But why didn't they chose something fantastic like the White Keron, Kea Kokako or the Tui? Who ever it was picking the national icon got it half right with the silver fern frond. That is a particularly nice and aesthetic thing in real life.
  13. They are ugly, flightless, ugly, nocturnal, ugly, silly little creatures. i think it is a travesty that this majorly unmajestic ugly bird is the national icon. JMO
  14. Your loss then. Change your security settings perhaps?
  15. Nice looking tank. What are the specs and what ferts do you use?
  16. Dalton's used to have a page on their website listing the distributors of their products. If you ring up Dalton's and ask nicely they will tell you the names of the distributors in your area.
  17. Oh, and did you hear there is a special Campbell report on how we should all get rid of the beer fridges as they are deemed unnecessary energy consumers. All you people out there with chillers on your tanks look out! You just may well need to plan a coup.
  18. They can't help themselves. They want to wrap us all up so tight in so much stuffy cotton wool that we won't be even allowed to go to the bathroom by ourselves soon. Of course there is no statements made by the Govt. about how astoundingly inept and short sighted they are, having failed to put in place any kind of sustainable energy plan. Or how they are getting so much more petrol taxes with the price at the pumps being almost equivalent to that of liquid gold. And yet they are trying so hard to push through the emissions bill which may or may not be another cash cow for the Govt. if they start charging for carbon credits. They want to get rid of incandescent light bulbs in place for mercury filled ones. Sure they might save a little on power, but what happens to the millions of these broken bulbs that will lay in the landfills? Mercury will poison the ground. Maybe not next year, but the near future. Why can't there be a scheme in place forcing all the big companies that occupy large premises or high rise buildings to install an array of solar panels to supply some of their own energy?
  19. Nah. It was a spur of the moment decision to go. We hit low tide. It would have been a wicked high tide show though, the swells were solid.
  20. Contrary to popular mythology fish are unable to read pH. What they do respond to is osmolarity of the water. Also total dissolved solids (TDS). This is where monitoring of KH and GH would be practicable in attempting to keep stable water parameters. One example of pH vs. osmolarity: CO2 lowers pH but does not change the osmolarity of the water.
  21. Poor fish. *Stunted* comes to mind.
  22. I used to use it. I figured it was too expensive though. I use Prime now. Well I used to on town supply.
  23. I went to Punakaike pancake rocks today. So beautiful. And down the beach. The Strongman mine memorial site
  24. Flatmate? Well then they are a lost cause. Cut your losses. ROFL.
