  1. Yes he is mine, and that is my own photography too
  2. That is fantastic I hope you are very proud of it
  3. No they'll be fine with the other fish. I used to have Khulis in a community tank and they were out and about all the time. I even used sand for a substrate once and they never buried themselves!
  4. Get the headstanders :bounce: It can be a Christmas present to yourself
  5. Platys, because they're cheap, easy to replace, and are more hardier than the other two fish species you are looking at getting. Once your tank is fully cycled and your platys are happy, get a couple of Kuhlis, and see how they do, and if they are fine get two or three more. Then once they're all happy, and your plants are thriving and healthy, get your shoal of 10 Cardinals.
  6. They are so cute and adorable      You have done an excellent job at raising them They look so happy and healthy.
  7. You might need to shut your brother in a dark cupboard with a sack over his head for a couple of hours to calm him down a bit. He certainly doen't sound like a good look for a tank full of fish. Not being stupid here, but that sounds like an excellent idea! If everyone did that then the whitebait population will have time to regenerate a bit.
  8. Tiger Barbs like to be in shoals of about 10, but grow to 7cm. So I'd leave them and get Cardinals instead. Don't get the Acorus rush. It is a marsh plant and will not last long in your tank.
  9. Awesome! An Asian biotope sounds like an excellent idea. For shoaling fish (if you are having them in the tank) I think 25 Trigonopoma pauciperforatum will look fabulous! I love those loaches you have mentioned. They're all very cool. You could also add some Khuli Loaches too. Also I think you should have some Banded Gouramis and/or Pearl Gouramis.
  10. OK, get 2 Neon Tetras and be done with it  OK, how about: Pair of Apistos 10 Cardinals 5 Kuhlis Does that sound better?
  11. Amazon biotopes are getting a little boring  I think you should do a Congo biotope, with lots of Anubias and Congo Fern, and although it's not from Africa, Java Fern For fish, well, something a little different would be nicer than boring old Congo Tetras. There is a very nice fish that I've kept before called the Yellow-tailed Congo Tetra, Hemigrammopetersius (Alestopetersius) caudalis. Also you should get some Wild Kribs, Pelvicachromis taeniatus. BTW, I don't like the second, darker piece of bogwood resting on top of the horizontal piece. I think it should be removed, otherwise everything looks too cluttered.

Wow that looks lovely Could do with being filled up more though, about 1cm of water from the top of the tank. I like the substrate. What is it?
  13. +2, 3, 4 and 5! There's nothing better than a good nights sleep
  14. I still think you should go for the Cardinal Tetras. They're MUCH more colourful and exiting than platys! This should be suitible for your tank: 1x Pair of Apistos of your choice 10x Cardinal Tetras 5x Golden Pencilfish 5x Khuli Loaches 3x Hatchetfish of your choice Joe
  15. You don't need cories. If you want 7 Khulis go for it! I think that will look cool. Personally I think cories are an ugly shape  Golden Khulis have the same requirements as normal Khulis, and grow to the same size. Because the Emperors are bigger, if you wanted them you could have max. 5 Emperors in your tank vs 10 Cardinals or Rummynoses @ 3-4cm each.
  16. Hi Khuli Loach, 2nd line is correct for all those fish except Emperor Tetras. Those other ones all stay about 5cm or less, but Emperors grow to about 7cm.

Wow your tank looks cool! The light looks a bit funny though  Eventually you can switch to a Hagen T5HO Glo unit that fits 2x 54 watt tubes. Get two PowerGlos. The PowerGlos make the fish look lovely and they are excellent for the plants.
  18. It's most likely the CO2. CO2 lowers the pH of the water or something. Snails don't like soft/acidic water because it eats away at their shells. So just chuck the ones that aren't doing well into the other tank. Good luck
  19. I really don't know what you're so worried about. I have got Dwarf Cichlids before, and it was a choice I never regreted. They are perfectly fine in a community tank, and you don't need to be worried about them getting aggressive when they spawn. As long as you provide enough plants and bogwood, the other fish will stay out at the front of the tank and swim around and the cichlids will hide away for a bit and tend to their eggs/fry. Also, Apistos are excellent because they are so small. You'll have no problems. Just stay away from 'bigger dwarfs', which is Laetacara curviceps, Pelvivachromis pulcher and taeniata etc. I saw you replaced the Apistos on your list of fish with platys. You will get far more pleasure out of Apistos than you will with platys Oh and by the way I googled your filter and it looks pathetic  Go for an Aqua One CF500 or an Eheim Classic 2213 Internal power filters tank up too much room. External canisters give you a much larger filter volume without taking up room in your tank. The two filters that I mentioned already come with filter media. Out of the two though I would prefer the Eheim 2213. It is higher quality, plus the filter media it comes with is wicked!
  20. The pictures must look different
  21. Eating. Food makes me happy, like this guy >
  22. I highly recommend that you make a sump, because: A) Your tank is large and sumps are better suited for large tanks. B) A sump can fit a much larger volume of filter media than a filter (unless you make a little tiddly sump). C) It's cheaper to buy a tank than a filter, and the FX5 only comes with sponger around the baskets, so you'll still need to buy filter media.
  23. I had a look at GLA Diffusers a week ago and they look very similar to ADA and are way cheaper, but they look nicer than Rhinox. If I get pressurized CO2 I know what diffuser I'm getting
