    Sick Australes?

live bbs slowly die and need to be syponed out twice a day. decap rots faster and needs to be syponed out 4 or 5 times a day with mop spawners I do a 90% water change twice a day Australe are very hardy and I have never had the problems you describe

    Peat Spawning Killies

" keep the water clean for best results is another. " probably the least important They need the water to be brown and if you can feed mainly live foods, its less important to do weekly water changes. In the wild they live in dirty pools that dry up in summer but as Stu aludes to, over feeding can polute the water and kill them off

    Peat Spawning Killies

Cam if you do get Nothos, you will need to breed them in a seperate tank totally. They also need salt added as they are very prone to Velvet

  7. I have 9 tanks empty at the moment but.... I have to pick up a pair of Rachovii (Aqu) waiting for Normani fry to hatch and am getting some really special Killis soon Plus I will have to empty a few more tanks before Christmas as I have a lot to hatch out in January
  8. maybe Nothos and australe but I would never ever do it
  9. every job becomes just a job and after 40 years in my job it is just a job... its always people that spoil and make things just a job Been working for myself for 21 years and it has become just a job
  10. Stella Thats a similar problem that I see often nowdays with new parents being told to make sure their babys sleep on their backs rather than their sides... often the babys end up with flat heads... yes they do slowly straighten but it takes a while and they have a flat head at the back which makes their heads look bigger and often out or proportion. Most new ways are better but sometimes the old ways are worth looking at as well Stella, with your passion, you should be looking at Dental Hygienst surely
  11. I have in excess of 30 eggs and know there would be more there tonight. I belive that Stu may not be able to read a tape as I think the eggs are an "eye watering" 2 to 3 mm in dia. Im feeding BBS and have never seen any other killi attack then as these do. Im spawning them in Java Moss and picking the eggs to place in a seperate container ready and waiting for them to hatch. These little fulla's grow very quickly as I only got them last Friday and thought at the time that I only had 1 male and 8 females... withing 3 days I knew I had 4 males and 5 females. The colour of the males has turned a lot more yellow and the finnage is quite flowing. Ask your local fish shop if they can get them for you and see what happens...For members of the Killi Club, Im sure that we should be able to help out soon once the fry have hatched and grown but I would jump in quick and try to get some of the originals first.
  12. read my posts... I have a big mouth
  13. Green Bay Dental book in with "Rush" My daughter use to work there and only has good things to say about Rush She sometimes works there part time now but also works at other places part time as well as she has a baby so only wants a couple of days a week now Why Green Bay... They are bluudy good and have the attitude that the only way to make sure people look after their teeth is to make it as affordable as possible while giving the best treatment
  14. Tell me Stella Are you like Lizzette and the first thing you notice is the teeth? Some may say they stink of BO... other that they didnt have the zip done up but Liz always notices the fangs
  15. while thinking of your discomfort and fear, also think about the poor old dentist that spends his life looking down someones gob all ady... did you know they have the highest suicide rate of all jobs? also think about the job Stella had (and my daughter Lizzette) that spend their days sucking spit.... Now if you keep that in mind while they are working on you, it may well put a smile on your dial and let you forget your fears
  16. Dont know if you remember Stella but my daughter has (and still does) the same job as you did....I can still get you work up here if you want. As you mention... you know what your talking about and I have also always listened to my daughter as well... pays to be in the know eh
  17. I belive that if you have nothing in your bank account you may have a chance What ever happens, hunt around for a price Crowns for instance can cost fro $500 to $1800 for the same job/tooth Be aware though that if the damage goes to the nerve, it will feel as if someone has smacked you in the side of the head with a 4x2... When it happened to me, I told a chippy to get outa my way and if he ever hit me with a hunk of timber again, I would kill him.... I honestly thought he had wacked me one. I was totally incapable of driving so dont muck around and get it fixed urgently
  18. Ive been a glass merchant for 40 years Insurance companies recomend me to fix these problems In reading what I wrote, it looks insulting and I honestly didnt mean it that way... Im sorry for that. THE ONLY BLADES TO USE ON GLASS ARE THE STIFF BACK RAZORS
  19. I love that I would turn over about $10000 per year on people that use those painters scrapers and with double glazing, it should improve to $30ooo per year. Thank you. Painters scrappers are called that and they should be called painters scratchers Any painter worth his salt will use the stiff back razors at a last resort but never the hard stiff blades as they do and will scratch the glass NEVER USE PAINTERS SCARPPERS If the "residue" is whitish then it will probably be calcium/lime residue and will be etched into the surface of the glass. There is an acid that will reduce the effect but the surface will be damaged.
  20. when breeding twice a day on live if possible and if not frozen blood worms If not breeding, once a day and at Christmas once every week to 10 days. Last year I did loose a tank (out of 47) but that was to velvert but that was the only loss
  21. the main thing with BBS is that because its alive, the preditory instinct comes out and fry eat it because its moving. They get excited and want to eat. I feed BBS twice a day and the fry grow a lot bigger and faster than with dead foods I will be putting breeding dishes in this weekend with some fry that are 3 weeks old Live food is normally far better it all depends on if you can be bothered. To me, my 47 tanks take about 30minutes morning and night to do but I choose to spend more time with them
  22. I wonder how many times say in the last 12 months, Fish have gone missing and died? I would think that in most cases, 48 hours would be more than OK? I know at Christmas, My fish dont get fed for at least a week and sometimes 10 days without a loss so its only water conditions that should cause a problem Yes, I realise that its the specie of fish that may be able to take longer periods of being trapped in a plastic bag but I would guess that with enough water and 48 hour heat pad and double bagging, they should be fine for a couple of days?
  23. I must admit that I use NZcouriers and so far without a problem They dont like taking fish and always make sure that there is no comeback but so far great service with no problems
