  1. thats almost exactly the rite conditions...
  2. I had about 20 eggs just before Christmas but only 2 hatched before I had to put them in a tank and hope for the best... cant see any in there but have one fry and about 15 eggs now so will see how I get on... If they hatch and survive, keep an eye out in the Killi mag... they seem to be slow growers when fry but as I have the single fry in with Clowns and fighting for there existance, its probably not a fair test

    Boyu pumps

may be just as easy to import a few then I will always try to support the local fish stores first but lets face it, at times its just as easy to import, problem is that if we all do that, there will be no local stores Thanks

anyone know who stocks the diaphrams for these?... Auckland
  6. Hes correct I tell you There is nothing worst than putting on a do for your staff. There is always one that just dosnt bother to turn up and you end up delaying procedings for them Then theres the one that gets a few drinks under the belt and starts giving you a hard time about how good they are and how much the company needs them. Then at the end of the night, they all grab as much booze as they can carry and dissapare. Christmas parties and booze are the biggest horror stories possible
  7. a lot of people just do the 10 to 20 % water change each week so (although I have small sponge filters in my larger tanks) most killis dont need it When you think about where peat spawners live, they go for 3 to 9 months with no running water and rely on rain water to freshen it up... and often there isnt much of that
  8. what fish are you planing on... I based my coment on Killis that I belive you have just aquired and killis need little or no filtration
  9. things like killis should be fine
  10. most on here will know that I will debate anything at any time and I have crossed swords with others (OK Warren) a few times but I welcome the rules. I disagree with posts and posters and will argue my point and have even been known to change my mind from time to time (but I wont admit it of course) I visit another site (unrelated Fishing) that is open slather with insults and threats as well as photos that are well over the top and I also get into that as their rules allow it. Will I allow my 17YO daughter to visit it?... nup I do however often show my daughter(s) and grand kids this site. As Alan mentioned, we all push the rules at times and yes, the mods may well decide to turn a blind eye to some of the TM references but its normally done with the sprit of the rules in mind. I am often advising children in here on Killis and will often try to help them and if the site is not welcoming to them or is unsuitable for their parents to allow them to log on, how will I ever get them hooked on Killis? Better state here and now that this is not aimed at any one, just my take on the rules and the way they are being dealt with
  11. I have had them looking good and still breeding at 18 months and I only lost that pair when a pocket of air became trapped in the peat. Ihad just put the peat in 5 minutes before I went away for 5 days so when the fish dived through, they couldnt get out again... never had it before and doupt that it will ever happen again
  12. No I dont heat those tanks at all... keep in mind that mine are inside
  13. Ive heard of one person getting eggs when they had ice on the surface and another taking eggs at well over 30 I read that the ideal is 18
  14. BTW its almost impossible for pigeons to deposit why flying as their leggs tuck up into that cavity... Pigeons have to stop midair and put their legs down first so normally they wait untill they have landed Just a bit of useless information for you incase the finger was being pointed
  15. Look at my avatar or Goggle it and you will see They are the most stunning Killi I have ever seen and I am yet to see a photo that does them any justice at all
  16. EJ, our most successful Nigripinnis breeder, has asked me to post a photo of his main/best breeding setup for these fish. He gets great results in numbers of eggs and hatch rates. The breeding setup is outside and will not show the fish all that well but thats why we also have tanks for. I intend doing a similar set up at my home as the bonus is a beautiful display as well. No, Im not jokeing and Im sure EJ will answer any questions you may have
  17. go up through Rimmers Rd and walk north untill you find some flat water and try to cast into that... BEWARE as the flat water WILL be either a rip or a hole You can get Kahawai, Trevally or Snapper there
  18. who from as Im picking some up for Tracytrout and sending them down your way Send Tracy a PM and if its the same person I may be able to help all care etc

    killie eggs

normally they would be fungussed quickly if they are infurtile so Im not sure whats happening there It maybe that the fungus isnt showing up in the container your using so maybe if the container is clear, place a bit of someing black in behind?
  20. what a silly question Paul Nigripinnis or American flags of course in saying that, EJ has sent me a photo of his Nigripinnis set up that he uses outside (and EJ would have to be the top Nigripinnis breeder) I will post the photo at the end of the week when Im home and not on wireless
  21. wrong that could bring a charge of willful litter compounding the problem of you stealing their service that created the problem in the first place.
  22. The supermarket could have you charged with theft for stealing a service by not parking there for the purpose of shopping at the supermarket. I use to keep a bin out side the front of my work(on my property) Every now and then the lock would be removed and people would use it to throw their own rubbish in. The cost of this bin per empty in those days was $78. Now if you had to do say 10 extra empties per year, thats an extra $780 that you have paid so you can appreciate that its an reasonable amount. I had had enough after a couple of years so contacted the police and asked them what I/they could do. They arrived and took away the rubbish and went through it as well as the next time it happened. End result was that some cleaners were useing my bin along with others and as such were stealing a service from me. They were charged and fined Those that are having the cars clamped should ask themselves if they would be happy with the supermarket just parking a truck on their front lawns for a couple of hours whenever they felt like it Sorry but I agree with the supermarket and belive they have every rite to clamp and charge or have the police lay charges. The supermarket had to pay for the construction/tarseal and rates and others feel they can abuse and steal this service
  23. Thanks Ryan You as well will learn to fair Zev
