So bracing is the way to go then. Anyone have plans for euro bracing i have heard that it is better then centre bracing? Also does it matter if the bracing is made out of 4mm glass?

Hey everybody out there in fishy land. I made a great looking stand to put my 3 foot tank on but in the process of cleaning the tank out I discovered a small crack in the base. So i have decided to get a new one made, I thought about getting the old on fixed but i thought about upsizing a bit. So i am thinking of getting a tank made 915mm(Long)x410mm(Wide)x500mm(High). Now i ran the numbers through the great glass calculator and the safty factor drops to below 3 when i use 6mm glass. If i used bracing on the top of the tank would this increase the safty factor? Please feel free to suggest measurements that would make it safer or how to add bracing. Cheers

Go the ponds! The bigger and deeper the better. We currently have three, well four if you count the one in a aviary. The largest covers roughly 1.5 acres. There is a cure to MTS but it is to get more tanks so it is a vicous cycle.

I use a pair of kitchen snips when i trim mine, it is about once a week now. Am contimplating moving to non-stem plants. A little more easier i think

I wash the foam and the plastic bits but leave the ceramic noddles in water from the tank to keep the bacteria alive. That is when i clean the filter which is not very often that is.

We had a whole bunch of gold fish in a 1000L trough when we were making our pond deeper and larger. They lived happily in there for over six months untill we could move them back. We enven hasd a fresh water cray in there that grew to a nice size. We didn't have any plants but then the sheep would have eaten those pretty quickly.

As far as i can remember expanding phone is pretty toxic when it is still a liquid form but when it is dry it is pretty safe. But been in water it might leech toxions into the water. It is more buoyant the polystrene (sp) because it is mostly full of air bubbles. Not sure what gas they use to create these bubbles but it is full of it. It would alot of stones to hold it down. it is really fun to play with. It is also interesting to use as a target for a .22 rifle when full. The can nholds alot of foam. Ah troubled youth. Hehe

Tat is a very fast infection. I think you need to treat it. More tanks is the only treatment i am afraid. 4 tanks in 4 months! fantastic! :bounce:

Have you tried ITM stores or the warehouse. I got my stuff from the local ITM store, but then they do deal in water plants. Try the warehouse they may be able to order it in for you.

I have two Yoyo's who think that are SAE's and i also have four Khulis, a really nice looking one with redish stripy things and three pretty dull looking ones. I got the dull looking ones to try get the other one to come out of hiding. It comes out now which is good. They are such a social fish, a group of three is a must in my opinoin.

I thought about that but in the end i just sacrificed the eggs to the fish gods. My other fish enjoyed them very much. I think i will just keep doing that every couple of weeks.

So i have had two sets of angels i my tank and now two have paired off and they are breeding. With the breeding comes the agro towards other fish. Is there anyway to stop them, the last lot i had to sell cos i can't breed them properly.

So i have scrapped that idea. I have acquired from a friend who was cleaning out a NZ housing place in Omarau a 900mmx400mmx400mm tank that was destined for the trash compactor. So a free tank is all good if it holds water and does not explode in the middle of the night. Ah also the glass is close to 7mm by my calculations.

the tank is he tank is "80Hx990Wx50D" so i gather they mean 990mmWx800mmHx500mmD.

Just found out that it is made with 10mm glass. Might wait to seeif the offer it after the auction finishes

Hey everyone, I want to get a three foot tank but Dunedin lacks tank builders (or the hide and they never come out to play). I found a tank on trademe that comes with a stand and hood but would like peoples opinion on it (price). Here is the link I have not found out the thickness of the glass yet but i will do that today.
