  1. Hey TM does BMD stand for Bernese Mountain Dog? If so can i bombard you with questions about them? Am on a waiting list for one at the moment.
  2. I have found that glass is cheaper from local glaziers then the bigger chain stores. If you are doing something bigger and you can't get some help to hold pieces corner clamps come in handy and also you can make a frame as well.
  3. How much is it going to cost you to fill it with media?
  4. It would be nice to have an Animates down here! I think i have an FX5 sorted so shoud be good
  5. Hey everyone, Due to lack of lfs in Dunedin and the fact i have never seen a FX5 down here I am asking if people could keep an eye out for prices of them at there local. Or if you know already could you let me know. Cheers
  6. I have had a community tank with my 620T (slightly modified), angels loved the tank, they were breeding no stop till i sold them. Now it is housing a few different types of barbs. Outfitted with a rock wall, drift wood and heaps of java fern. Will try get a photo up for you shortly.
  7. Not a supermarket either, but when i first started working in my current job i was asked to vacuum the insides of computers for the first couple of days. As i was vacuuming i was told not to touch anything as it would get fried by all the static built up. Well safe to say i managed to fry to complete computers cos of static discharge. My boss was not so happy
  8. Thanks Spoon, UIt would be this monday the 17th at around 2pm i would think as we would have to travel up from Dunedin. Thanks
  9. I want to buy an tank in Christchurch but I am from Dunedin. It is a large tank and I can only find another guy to help me lift. If there is anyone in Christchurch that can provide some muscle for maybe an hour to help lift this tank that will be fantastic. Let me know if you can help cos it would be fantastic!!!! THANK YOU
  10. I would be making the stand with 4x2's and using 12mm ply for bracing around the sides and 18mm ply for the base. What size sump would people suggest, i have a spare 100l tank that might fit under the stand if i play my cards right, i would have bubble trap, and two or three compartments for media and the return pump. For the compartments i was thinking having filter wool, then corse sponges then bioballs (another type of something aswell) and the filter wool again. I was thinking using the filter wool to [polish the water as it is dirt cheap to buy. Question Time: - Where do people usually source plumbing equipment? - Where do people get those white ball valvues? - Glue the connections or get "quick" snap together connections? - Transporting a 6 footer? Trailer or van? ahhhhhhhh i think that might be it for now.
  11. Hey Everyone, I am thinking about getting a tank built and need some information about how big to make the holes for the sump. The tank that i am thinking about is a 1800mmx600mmx600mm, i was going to get it made out of 10mm glass. I am going to get a centre overflow as i would like to view the tank from both sides, I have been advised to get two 25mm drains and either 1-2 20mm outlets. I am going to be making my own stand and know it needs to hold a lot of weight, I have calculated roughly 800kgs filled with water without gravel and rocks. Ah i can not think of anything else i would need but feel free to fill in any blanks or add anything. i hope to take some photos when i am doing all this but it is going to take a while.
  12. Man that sucks! Keep an eye out everyone, never know where they will turn up.
  13. I am here everyday, helps to be the boss
  14. My partners cat loves to fetch his catnip toy. Throw it down the hall he will chase after it and drop it at your feet. So cute!
  15. Hey everybody, Has anyone used the tax refund website, www.taxrefunds.co.nz, before. I keep seeing the advert but am a bit worried to do it cos it could be a scam. I see it advertised in alot of legit places but still a bit suspicious.
  16. So the bottom pane of glass had a nice crack in it. Am going to get it fixed and set it up at home i think. I don't think work would like me very much if i set it up here again.
  17. Well i lost three clown loaches but i still have my job. i called my boss and he came over and laughed about it and then called the cleaners for me. I think the front pane has pulled away at the bottom but should find out later on this evening when i can get it off the stand. The funny thing is that i work in an IT department and the only thing that got damaged was a multi plug got flooded. i am really glad that it only pulled away and not cracked as i would rather have a mild leak then a great torrent over the room. So i still have my job after talking with the boss so i guess it is time to find another tank for the office
  18. Well i got to work this morning to find that my 250l tank had emptied out on the floor, well most of it did, there was two inches of water left at the bottom of the tank. I lost three clown loaches in the process and now have a community tank at the bursting limit! Just though i would share how my morning started
  19. Was looking into starting a shell dweller tank and like the look of these guys, does anyone have them or can we get them in NZ?
