Hospital supplies dont work lke that
I have had what you describe happen once but was of little effect and was easily picked up cause my bubble stream changed.
Only an issue if you have low saturated O2 to start with I woudl think...?

OK so here we go again
you do not need a filter on a tank.
It depends on stocking levels
i have a standard 3 ft tank that has guppies in it.
I feed it lightly and I do about 3 water changes a year
It has a gravel base of about 5-7 cm and I never vax the gravel I have Crypts ( a couple different types and a small amazonian sword)
It has reasonable light levels and I dont have any algae.
It is a matter of balance and patience.
The ol timers didnt have filters, used oild lamps to heat slate bottomed tanks, and had poor water to start with...they did ok

Given that we have "wild type": animals here and that pigmentation is some what related to incubation temp there is no reason that we cant produce some of those colour morphs given we maintain an reasonable gene pool with teh limited breeding stock we have.
That is probably teh best reason that those with " breeders" maintain some sort of register of animals born sold breed etc.
lol and also to give to the man when they are made illegal...or not...lol
LMAO

Peace lillies and the such wer paladial (spelling) plants i thought so can tolerate being submersed for 6-9 mths but do not do that well as they need dry time as well.
Great for short term or High planting where the leaves are exposed.
Might work with this ...just roate the plants in and out of the tank maybe?

Hi Barrie,
As a sales manager for an internationas drug company I travelled a lot (70-80000k a year sometimes + flights)
I used just a basic Navman (didnt need a computer mp3 playing camera that spoke 67 different dialects) and it was very valuable.
You can buy downloads for most countires and also upadates every now and then.
Just type in city and or street name to get from a to b or pre program your home location and it will always get you there.
Or you can use it liek a digital map...easy as.
Onlything I have to say is take teh time to set it up how you wantit and it may not give you te fast route but it will get you there.
No replacement for local knowledge I suppose though

Hi Steve,
I run a big tank with several messy eaters in it.
I run a sump and an fx5
The sump I run with the spray bar on the bottom of the tank and at teh back angled slightly up.
This pushes and crud to the front of the tank for easy removal. It also pushes crud into the water colum where it runs into my overflow and to the sump/fx5.
I usually have no probs with water parameters and clarity.
Only trick is to drill a hole in teh spray bar return below teh water level to break any syphon so that it doesnt drain the tank when the sump pump stops.
This is a little trial and error but once sorted works well and is quiet and effective.
Hope this helps

HMMMM almost as good as ....
Chocolate.....doh!
Good luck Chris
With the NZVA tightening their rules no vet is "supposed" to precribe for an animal without a consult in the last 3-6 mths.
This makes it hard to get an ongoing supply of some of these meds.
Hope it goes well for your flat fish

Comes i a couple of forms.
Most common two are in saline solution 500mg in 100 ml and second is 400 mg tablets
Usually easist to source in these two styles.
remember to turn of carbon and uv style filters and some people recommend increasing temp and aeration as this speeds up lifecycle of flagilates so exposes more to drug.
You may need to repeat treatments to make sure that all flagylates are exposed to drug

Hi Danny,
welcome to the Under Water World.
diving is great.
As an instructor ( i think there are a few of us in here) I cant recomend a better pass time outside of the fish room.
rememebr tho that the two most important thing when going down are to breathe in and to breathe out.
No matter how spectacular the scenery.
Would agree with Zev without a photo.
You will notice the clams do it as well and if you night dive you might see some of the hard corals doing it when you put your light on them
