  4. I went down to New Plymouth today, saw a few spots on the way down that has alot of driftwood. Awakino and Mokau etc
  5. Do you know how many liters? 2.4m might be long, but if they aren't very high/deep they end up being a pretty normal size tank. I had a 2.4m tank that was only 450L

I reuse the original filter media that comes with the filters, if it needs replacing i buy the sponge intended for the filter from my LFS, Last time I got a sponge for one of my large AquaOne filters it only cost about $10. p.s I don't bother with filter wool, waste of money and in general, very wastefull to replace every month. I always end up replacing it with a sponge which lasts for years.
  8. the media that came with the aquis 2400 was pretty crap, I ended up buying my own. Also design flaw is that its pretty hard to take the lid off, seriously how hard would it be for the asians to think of putting some kind of handle on the top.

  12. That does happen, but things that actually produce a smell are not easily ignored. If i stir up my thick sand bed, leave, then come back into the room i can just smell a fishy aroma
  13. I've got a tank setup in my room and it has the corners cut off the lids but I still can't smell a "fishy" smell, even when i stick my nose above the tank. I think if you have plants, well oxygenated water and good biological filtration the tank shouldn't have much of an odour. My windows are always slightly open to provide fresh air to
