  1. carbon removes minerals from the water, making ferts useless. Why would u do that to a planted tank?
  2. Flourish excel would be a good alternative if your diy co2 doesn't work out
  3. I bet the majority of T8's people have these days aren't as good as the ones used on that tank. But let me rephrase that, old t8's aren't very good.
  4. flourish excel is a substitute for co2, not a fertilizer, normal flourish is what you want. Daily dosing is better too. T8's aren't very good lights, T5's are alot better for plants, much more intense. It also wouldn't hurt to put a few root tabs in.
  5. I'd probably pay somewhere between $60-80 depending on howmuch driftwood i could get. I don't think my coupe would be very suitable for transporting driftwood so i'd either have to tag a long with someone or just get someone to drop some off on the way back to auckland
  6. Do u have good lighting and ferts? co2 won't get used if the plants don't have enough light/ferts
  7. Plants use co2 during the day (lights on) and expell oxygen, at night (when lights go off) they absorb oxygen and expell co2
