  1. I found this site, do an advanced search on google and select german language. http://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/OffersOfProduct/981367_-compact-5000-eheim.html
  2. Yes of course, only the most naturalistic colours tho, red blue and pink
  3. pfft step a side kiddo, I've got under water spotlights and a vegas background :nilly:
  4. Malawi cichlids are just as good marine setups, mainly due to the fact that marine setups are not easy to get looking good.
  5. Have a quick look on trademe, don't buy them from a petshop, go to an electrical wholesaler like J.A Russels, Simpsons or Ideal electrical (in order of preference)

    silica sand

The Goldfish Bowl in heaphy terrace sells black silica sand, its about $27 for 10kgs. Its fine for all fish, especially those that like to dig. Pros: looks good Cons: needs to be cleaned slightly more often than gravel. If your on a budget then yes you can use builders, pit, paving and river sand that is sold in hardware shops - rinse it before use tho.
  7. crap!! whens does the judging close???? My new tank will be ready in a few more weeks
  8. only collect on an incoming tide??
  9. Thanks, When I started applying the resin I was blown away myself - makes such a big difference. I'll take some more shots once its finished and with a good camera
  10. It's not as hard as you think, you should try carving a short length of poly thats about 15cm thick and about a meter long and see what you think of it
  11. get some fish that eat algae?
  12. Polystyrene and covered in resin with a black pigment added, took 4 hours to carve the poly, an hour going over it with a heat gun and then several hours to apply the first coat of resin ( first batch of resin i made too much of and the chemical reaction made it overheat and set really quick). Excuse the poor quality photo's, couldn't find the digital camera  p.s this is my first attempt and making a 3d background
  13. Still needs another coat and all the caves/tunnels filled in, not sure at this stage if I'll coat it in black silica sand
  14. Finally the tank is arriving on Monday, was held up due to renovations. So with the room sorted out and the tank arriving soon I decided I had better get my A into G and plan the layout, after looking at various setups I stumbled upon something interesting and decided to give it a go... this is the result 8)

  17. Im nearly done carving (hacking) the poly, will start putting the resin on a bit later. Decided to use a black pigment mixed in with black silica sand
  18. I'll try find a camera and start recording the process, not sure how well its going to turn out tho. I'm thinking of coating the finished wall in resin and then covering in sand, what do you think? I want a nice dark textured grain, like this one here : http://www.aquahobby.com/tanks/e_tank0902.php p.s What kind of resin can i use?
