  1. Full units are about $240 for the Hagen GLO brand, or if into DIY they sell the Ballasts/caps for almost half the price (just need a refelctor and your good to go). There are the cheap brands out there to but I've never had one so I don't know if they would be any good
  2. You can get them cheaper than that. Also how big is the tank? You don't need as many T5's as you would T8's
  3. yea, those other fish might as well be swimming in a septic tank
  4. You won't get away with a geo/earth eater, they will eat the apisto and cories and anything else thats small.. happened to me once but I caught him/her in the act and got the fish back just in time
  5. And the water looks like its actually changed
  6. Planted tank, my other tank will eventually be turned into a malawi setup.. then if i get the malawi bug or when I move houses I'll probably set it up as a malawi tank
  7. T5 is more intense, more light is produced. Thats the main difference (forget the number 5 and 8, that only stands for the size of the tube)
  8. Its like comparing a normal incandescent light bulb to an energy saver, alot brighter. In saying that I have only used a T5 HO and a few standard T8's If you look at my avatar, thats powered by a Twin tube T5HO fitting, I have a single tube T8 that I timed to come on 30Mins before and after the T5 fitting because it is ALOT dimmer
  9. I remember the good ol' mc flurrys, not the new ones.
  10. Win the auction and then arrange pick up, then back out of it... Then come back for a five finger discount :nilly:
  11. rather than replacing the O-rings, try covering them in a bit of vaseline
  12. While we are on the subject of tanks I must recommend people who have storage tanks for their houses get them cleaned perodically, we had to shut off the feed into the tank while we had the roof cleaned etc and after a few days of use all the crap on the bottom was starting to unsettle off the bottom and creating a very bad smell in the water. Ended up cleaning out the tank and the amount of crap we saw come out of it was unbeliveable, loads and loads of gunk had collected on the bottom.
  13. Anyone remember when that a guy threw mud at brash
  14. He would be doing you a favour if he blacklisted you, means you can't trade with him :happy1:
  15. rain = tank, bore systems don't use tanks as they have great pressure and have a large supply of water ready and waiting to be sucked up from the ground. We have both at out farm, house on tank, Farm & flat on bore.
  16. I made nice sized lines of it, hardly worth skimping on something cheap just to have it fail and ruin expensive items such as carpet
  17. Way ahead of ya, I have the Eheim filter already cycled
