  1. Whitespot Free! Today is the first day the tang has no white spots visible, so looks like he's fought it off successfully. Thanks to everyones valuable input, in particular in convincing me to leave him alone and fight it off himself rather than dosing the tank or quarantining him.
  2. wish i could help out conch but i think my mandarin and sixline are pretty much decimating my pod population at the mo.. have you had any luck with raising pods in your external aquarium? if its been successful then perhaps i could try doing it too with a spare tank and help out that way
  3. i was expecting a dancing mc hammer or that crazy dancing guy... fabio is so repulsive (especially that size)
  4. I'll definitely be watching the development of that thread, amazing photgraphy!
  5. weird, sometimes when i don't use the direct link i can't get the images to display :-?
  6. White stringy poo can indicate internal parasites, the poo should be a solid colour and break off in small pieces
  7. I have always used the direct link without problems
  8. mines growing slow as well except for in my overflow.. can i ask what level you guys are keeping your Ca and Alk at. I've just boosted my alk from around 6 to 9 and Ca from 400 to 425 (i think from memory)
  9. lol, well count me in, shouldn't take long if there's lots of us doing it
  10. yes i was relieved! seems to be whitespot 'season' at the mo, i have read of two other cases of whitespot recently on the 'other' site, one a blue tang and one a bannerfish, unfortunately both died. Luckily for me my blue tang thinks he's king of the tank so that keeps the stress levels down for him
  11. just an update he's still got the white spots, probably a dozen on each side, but still happy and eating, i think he's looking like he should pull through ok
  12. hey scuba sam, sounds like you're on to it, just keep up with the water changes and sounds like ti should come right
  13. the thing is a skimmer isn't going to work properly in freshwater anyway
  14. is it a gulping or a coughing? does it only gulp when eating food, or is the gulping always present? has it changed colour or behaviour?
  15. a skimmer won't work very well in freshwater due to the density of the water. Salt water is denser and produces a foam which is skimmed out, you can't obtain this very well in freshwater
  16. With discus i have used metronidazole in the past to rid internal parasites and it has worked well. Not sure if its safe with loaches though, either way probably best to separate him so that it isn't transferred to the others
  17. white jelly seems to imply a fungal problem, do you know your water parameters, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate etc? How long has your tank been set up? BNs are pretty hardy so its a bit strange
  18. what is with fnzas at the mo, keeps double posting and having issues..
  19. looking good conch, very impressed
  20. looking good conch, very impressed
  21. i'll pm you johns address so you can be added to the mailing address
  22. such a pity you can't have more than one in a tank, i'd take another blenny in a second
  23. how long did it take before your tang seemed to recover it has been 2 weeks so perhaps its still early days? i dont' want to over-react but also don't want him to get too sick (he still seems fine, its proably more stressful for me than him lol).
  24. I've tried taking some photos but he's just too quick for me to get a clear picture. Tonights he's been scratching a LOT, and visiting the cleaner shrimp for a clean (which obliges when he feels like it). I bought some real garlic today which i've been mushing in to their food, but i can't help feeling guilty about sitting and trying to wait out the ich...
  25. what a cutie, blennies are the best
