  1. If it is too lowered then it is a pond.
  2. I just leave the lights on all the time on our Mitsi Airtrek. The lights turn off automatically when the car turns off. I figure if the idiots on the road can see our car then they are less likely to crash into us.
  3. Yup, Like Puttputt said, the picture looks like 1mm lighting cable. If you just was red, green, black coloured insulation just ask for 1mm 2 core and earth. If you ask for 1mm 3 core it will be red, white and blue insulation. The cable is called TPS - tough plastic sheath.
  4. I'd suggest if there was any wild goldfish in the waters in Whakatane, they would be more likely to be in Sullivans lake. It doesn't get flushed out as often as Awatapu lagoon.
  5. Yup, we have not got any fish shops. Our local vets have tried to fill the void that was left when the local pet shop closed - They have a few freshwater fish - not tropicals. I find that wonderworld in rotorua is really good- they have a sizable fish room - well worth a visit they have a good amount of livestock.
  6. Have a look at this associations website: Marine Ornamental Fish & Invert Breeders Association There is some good information there. They have a breeders challange currently running for bangaii cardinalfish that zaita has entered into. This link is the section that contains the bangaii information. Hope that helps and good luck with your assignment
  7. Hi and welcome Snorkel. I find the same thing with alot of my friends, they like looking at the tank, but when you start talking fish stuff their eyes start to glaze over!!
  8. Another tip for you loopy, Let the kids pour the entire contents of the fish food container into the tank. This will cut down on your feeding requirements too! Note to all: this is not a serious post. Please do not do this.
  9. :bounce: :bounce: Sounds like you will be adding to your tank build!!! First question: With the new tank and stand, will you be having a sump? Second question: If yes, will you modifythe stand to fit a bigger sump? Just thinking of your current sump and the size of it.

    SAND CLEANER

There are a few sand sifting gobies that are still allowed to be imported into the country: Valencienna strigata Valenciennea sexguttata Valencienna puellaris Valenciennea longipinnis I wouldn't know which one is the best of these.
  11. If it was me having a tank of that size I would sort it out as soon as before it caused you any trouble. The previous owner may have been lucky and not had the tank burst, but you may not be as lucky. If you can cut the brace out and replace it. Best to do it while the tank has no water in it. If it has water in it then there are ways and means of supporting the tank.
  12. Good to see you are both wearing the correct safety apparatus and have an extinguisher close by. OSH would be so proud of you!!!! Are you making Stainless steel Tiki necklaces?
  13. I add small bits into my sump and display occasionally, hasn't caused any problems. How else does the rock become cycled or lseeded to be live? I guess if you wanted to cook it in another container to allow any crud to be forced out of the tank that would be good.
  14. What the electrical rules now state is basically if you alter your house in a way that has an impact on the switchboard - additions, moving switchboard, replacing fuseholders with hardwired circuit breakers (not the plug in ones) - then the electrical installation must be made to comply with the current NZAS 3000:20007 electrical wiring regulations. In domestic and residential installations it is now required to have RCD's protecting the lighting and power point circuits. For existing houses its sweet as if you don't alter your house - you don't have to add the RCD's. A couple of exemptions: If there is a dialysis machine it is not to be supplied from a RCD protected circuit. If you add a power point or light switch and lamp to an existing unprotected circuit (No RCD) you do not have to add an RCD. Couple of tips: The RCD goes in the after the main switch on the switchboard and supplies the lighting and powerpoint circuit breakers. Get the sparky to install a couple of RCDs and split the circuits - lights from one end of the house with the power points from the other end of the house. Then if one RCD trips under fault condition you can at least plug a lamp into a powerpoint or see what is faulty in the house. One tip, when you get RCDs installed, get the sparky to install a couple,
  15. Looking good Zaita, I've PM'd you regarding getting on "the list"
  16. Sorry about the late notice, just noticed it hasn't already been posted. A general get together has been organised for sunday the 13th on july, at 1pm at living art wildlife park in tauranga. There will be a BBQ all are welcome, come one come all. We had 17 people at the last meeting. It looks like being another good turnout with a few people coming down from Auckland, some from Hamilton, a couple of us from the Whakatane and an unknown but growing number of people from Tauranga Feel free to bring along frags/fish/inverts to swap or sell, stories to tell, and something for the BBQ. If you would like to get NSW high tide is about 4pm and remember no matter where you live you are all welcome. Also just a reminder,a small donation would be gladly appreciated to Living Art, for his kind generosity in letting us use the WildLife Park. Thanks so much Living Art.
  17. I think Sally is quite keen to see a picture of the mum and dad!
  18. Kia Ora Fred. Welcome to FNZAS!
  19. Have a look at this website, it may be of use to you in identifying things that appear in your tank. Xtalreef ID Site Hope that helps
  20. And don't forget where the water line will be. I doubt anybody runs their tanks to the rim!
  21. IRA, I have some bad news for you... PLANES NEED WINGS TO FLY!!!!!! Seriously, its looking cool. Just don't fly it close to the beehive, there are some scary looking queen bees inside.
  22. read this link: where are you origin aquatics pet planer website owners I do not have any link to these companies, but I can make these observations from the information provided: Origin Aquatics recently purchased the website petplanet. Origin Aquatics is moving premises - not an easy task when you have heaps of tanks. The companies appear to have a small number of staff, so their resources are being stretched at the moment.
  23. Why not call your dog Kitty. Go on give it an identity crisis.
  24. The streams look good, just slightly bigger versions of the Tunze Nano range. Hopefully the faults would have been ironed out in the nano's.
