  1. I would also go 110cm L X 60D - height is up to you but as I have already said anything more than 60cm I can't reach the bottom of the tank to clean it. I also recommend the tankmaker Henward has suggested. He makes good quality, well braced tanks.
  2. the dragons a nice looking delta tail Not sure if the other new one is a dt or not - the tail should be split all the way up and they are generally short finned.
  3. what sort of tank are you going to have - will make a difference as to whether or not a sump is the best option.
  4. Still in hospital - still in pain - still waiting for the ultrasound
  5. I would only have 3 discus in a 150 litre tank but thats because I like them to have plenty of space and so they can grow to their maximum size. In saying that they are better in groups of 4 or more or else just have a proven breeding pair. You will get away with more when they are smaller and if you are doing daily water changes it will also help. How much water do you change each day?
  6. the more fry you have the slower they will grow and will also grow at vastly different rates
  7. I think that a bigger tank would be a really good idea. Its recommended that there is 50 litres of water in a tank for each discus you have. This tank is very tall (120cm). Are you sure you have given the measurements the right way around. A tank this tall will make it very difficult to clean the bottom. I have a 450 litre tank (150L x 45D x 60H) and I currently have 4 discus (12cm+ in size) in it although 6 look really good in a tank this size (It is heavily planted).
  8. never stained our bath and I've been doing it for 4 years however you will need to clean the bath out properly afterwards as in use your elbow grease and jiff.
  9. not helped by the fact that females virtually never come in to the country and a lot of people cross tail types (imo anyway).
  10. Looks like a leg and foot to me
  11. For the first 10 years of my working life I always had to work christmas eve, christmas day, boxing day, new years eve and new years day just so that people who were not organised could phone in and cancel delivery of their newspapers while they went on holiday.
  12. Sorry but my females will not be for sale. Because I am unable to source alternative males or females I will have to work my own lines.
  13. I think that the darkening off is natural and that your fish is not sick.
  14. needed to read that twice I did - thought the word smiley said smelly
  15. Goes from bad to worse - after a 17hr travel period they arrived at lunch time today. The airline did not want her on the plane but because she walked in carrying her pack they finally let her on. Came to our house then her parents took her to her dr. She's now in the admissions ward at Auckland hospital with suspected appendicitis - which is not a pre existing medical condition. My sons asleep - I sent him to bed as he has been up for over 30 hours and wouldn't take his eyes off her on the flight. I have all the phones in case she is going to theatre and if necessary I will wake him and take him up to see her. I am so very proud of the way he has dealt with the whole thing - he decided to give up on the holiday he had been working so hard for and get her back home to better care. Now he needs time to wind down as its been a hard two weeks for them both but what they did see they so really enjoyed that they will go back I am certain.
  16. Those auto bids from the same bidder is because someone is trying to put a bid on against the auto bid. Happens to me a lot. I know what I like and often auto bid up to slightly beyond the price I am prepared to pay so when someone else wants to bid my auto bid stacks up as they try to find out what amount I've gone to
  17. Chop them at the bottom and yes you can leave some to go to the surface. I just wait until mine get to the height I don't want and then cut the shoots back down.
  18. I can't remember when mine started to show but they were only few weeks I think. They grew very fast. Not all of them showed the dragon scaling, just some of them.
  19. Didn't say I was giving it up , however we are likely to be moving in the next twelve months and then I will have to pay for power and water. I'm thinking that will seriously curb the number of tanks I can have
  20. They're coming home. The flight arrives around mid day tomorrow Friday. Apparently all is still not well so I believe they've taken the best option and caught the first flight they can afford.
