8 in total. Very cool watching them in the tank as the only other corys i've had were bronze cories.
They're still small about 3cm.
And its a pity this photo isn't focused:
They're sitting on the gravel that gets rearranged by the BN (who is behind them in the pic) and the kribs who i've been watching taking mouthfuls of gravel & putting the gravel on the top of the mound.
These are in a tank i don't seem to talk about much. they're with kribs, black phantom tetras, a BN and a red tailed shark.
I'm a bit weary of feeding cat food to a lizard. I'd prefer to feed food that I know whats in it instead of a food thats designed for a comletly different animal.
If my avoiding feeding cat food means she doesn't get much to eat I've got 2 cats so plenty of cat food here as a back up.
Hopefully I'll be buying my BT this weekend, so its only a couple of weeks away!
I've had lots of different pets, but this will be my first lizard :bounce:
About a month ago I decided to get a blue tongue lizard. I've been gradually setting things up and its almost ready to have a BT in
The tank is 6 feet x 2 feet x1 foot (high)
Full view
I chose gutterung for hides (theres one at each end) I'll get more leaf litter to cover it better
My dad made the lid. On one side it slides across
There will be glass covering up the 2 holes.
Once I get the glass I can get my lizard!
One Question, I've read that they like meats like beef and chicken, but just to be clear do I cook it for them? (i think they'd like raw best, but thought i'd better check first)
No, we don't have any wolves. Closest would be our dingoes and african wild dogs. Most days our dingoes go for a walk around the zoo which is really cool to see.
My avatar is of Wellington Zoo's Zahara, one of the three giraffes there. They're my favourite animals at the zoo, so I visit them every time I go to the zoo to say hi (which is lots as i'm a volunteer there)
i only put a few female guppies, not males. But mine mainly ignores the other fish in the tank.
mines awesome, i taught him to feed from my hand and now when my hand is in the tank he comes over to me and tries to feed off my hand. he's really gentle
I've got mine in a 100 litre tank. 160 sounds even better.
I've had mine with lots of different fish, never had much of a problem. He likes to sweep around the tank from time to time. He may have eaten a couple of female guppies, but if you get a little shark it probably won't bother the guppies.
I've had mine with dwarf gouramis before.
Yes I had a Bella too
Edward and Bella had been breeding every month for 2 years, so I sold her
(my fighters name is Jasper  )
I didn't call him Edward because of twilight. I named him after Anthony Edwards from ER (most of my fish are named from ER) But when I got Bella the names seemed to go well.
There was a range in sizes smallest was about 4cm up to maybe 7 or 8 cm? Dino is around 5 or 6cm.
Dino is quite shy, if he's out & I come over to look at him he swims away fast. But luckily no arguments between him & Edward, my gba. There was massive fighting between Edward and Emmet, my male bristlenose, when I tried to put them together
Got 6 glass catfish (will probably get some more)
Its cool watching them eat food. They're a lot braver than I thought they might be.
And what was sold as a pretty pekoltia
Meet Dino:
I like how he's got squiggles on his face and lines on the rest of his body
the net breeder has my betta (his tank is being used by my apisto fry) and 2 young lanceolate whiptails that are too small to go into the main tank .
I'm perfectly happy to have him messing with the gravel! Flat, like I used to have got boring.
I got the gravel from petstuff101 (i think that what they're called) after the move all my tanks will have the same gravel.
I think i prefer without the black background. Definatly looks deeper
It looks the same angle to me?
I can't seem to keep it flat - Edward is having fun now that he can rearrange the substrate  He created an 8cm mountain on the side!
I got the gravel 6 years ago & had been frustrated that it was always flat and hard to move. Not to meantion the massive amount of trumpet snails all through it!
Last weekend I moved into a larger room so while moving my tank I took the oppourtunity to switch the gravel to very fine gravel. Now Edward, my gba, is making massive mountains in the gravel!

Anyone think that it looks better with a black background?
I feel that it make the depth feel shorter...
Last October I brought Amber as company for Jade (my lovebirds)
Amber wasn't tame at all and Jade was hand raised, but they got along from the start.
Over the first few months Amber wouldn't come out of the cage when I let Jade out. So I just ignored Amber, hoping that would make her more comfortable.
She started by accepting the stick bit on millet sprays (found them to be the best amusement for the birds - they play tug of war if I give them one to share)
She's slowly been getting closer to me. Like landing on the bed that i'm sitting on, to landing on my back. And last night she has comfortable on my hands. If I move too much she flys off. But i'm really pleased about her progress
Amber on my arm:
this is the actual enclosure.
I'll take pics and do a set up log, but at the moment i've only got the stand & a couple of bita and pieces. The tank should be made in about a week
Talked to dad about it & he said he could make a hole in the lid as big as the light. and put the light over the hole. Does that sound ok?
That way a large mesh won't prevent me from putting live insects in the tank
My Dad is going to make me a lid for my BT enclosure. But I just want to make sure that the mesh that will be used won't block the UV light. Are there any mesh that would block the UV?
Last night I moved their tank into a different room & took the oppourtunity to cout up the fry.
I've still got 11 (I found one that I'd left with their parents)
They're starting to develop adult patterns (the same stripe below the eye as their mum)
Mum and a baby:
Thought it was time for an update. The fry are in my 20 litre hex tank. So I can't count whether they're all still there.
I've got some microworms and brine shrimp (they're easier to hatch than i thought they'd be)
Can see the blue starting to come out on the cheek
I don't have any live food. Tried frozen daphnia today but no luck (squirted it in so it should have looked like it was alive)
I've never done live food before - what would be the easiest to start with?
