  1. its 18 degrees on the cool side & 32 degrees on the hot side UV light is on 11 hours each day, heat lamp 17 hours.
  2. At a guess she's about 30cm - but i haven't measured her (hopefully I'll remember when I see her next) I'm pretty sure that she gets up every day. I leave too early in the morning for her to be up already (I think she gets up at 10ish) and I get home when she's already gone back to bed (around 6) lucky her that she has not commitments
  3. So I shouldn't be to worried? but keep putting food in just incase she feels like eating? I thought she was to young to brumate?
  4. Thats why I fed her the snail - hopefully getting more soon. She does eat the odd FD cricket when I hold it out to her, or when I scatter them on the floor of her enclosure. Its more getting her veggies thats worrying me. Also forgot to say that i've tried a little bit of kiwifruit & catfood.
  5. Sky hasn't been eating much for a little while. She's about 8 months old so too young to brumate. I've been trying to feed her a mix of brocolli, zuchnni, carrot, mushrooms, peas, apple, pear, banana, tomato, beef, chicken, freeze dried crickets. I fed her a snail last weekend and she absolutly loved it. I've been trying to get her to eat by taking away most of her leaf litter (not sure why - mum suggested it), tried a different plate - just incase she didn't like the plate I was using. My room has gotten warmer as I have a heat pump so its a minimum of 18 degrees on the cold side. About 30 on the warm side. I've shut my cat out while i'm out during the day cos he was sitting on her enclosure & she was getting angry at him. Mum suggested that it could be cos she was living with other BTs in her breeders home - but knowing that they are solitary animals I don't want to get another one (I'd be happy to get another one if it would fix the problem) Any ideas of how I can get her to eat?
  6. i've found 1cm baby gbas in my filter. its an internal filter with slits that they got in when they were young, and just stayed there for a while.
  7. There was actually warm sun yesterday  Its always better weather at the zoo. I go about 5 times each month, as a volunteer - when I go as a visitor I bring my camera.
  8. I thought its a good time to put some updated pictures on Pygmy Marmoset: Bat: Cape Barren Goose and young: Sasa, Sun Bear: Sean, Sun bear: Porcupine in the new porcupine & meerkat enclosure: Male Nyala: Female Nyala: Enjoy
  9. I feed my cats a mix of whiskers, chef, max (raw meat), normal biscuits and TD dental biscuits. Variation is the key - just like with fish.
  10. My cat got my SAE when it jumped out. First I was scared that he'd caught a lizard. kinda relieved to find out that it was a common fish
  11. A couple of weeks ago i got some microrasboras. Took lots of photos of them today - ended up with a handful of ok ones. But i'm amazed that these little guys aren't scared of the camera. some of my other fish swim away as soon as they see the camera, so i sneak up to the tank as subtly as possible (mainly for my clown pleco). after taking some pics of the rasboras they'd formed a little group infront of my camera, checking it out 8) My camera is fairly basic so wasn't able to get great shots but i've asked my dad to try some pics on his good camera. hopefully he'll have better luck than me. These were the best i got:
  12. Can you post an auction number? I just had a look on tm and didn't find any.
  13. Yeah - theres a saucer in there for her to drink from but i wouldn't leave her swimming bowl in there without me watching.
  14. Yeah - when I mist or she gets a bath she goes over to the heat lamp straight away to dry off. And I take the water out. (i'm a bit paranoid when it comes to leaving lots of water in an enclosure, I had a finch drown many years ago when I left the bath in over night. Never will do that again) She's eating just like she always has
  15. So it won't create too many problems? Its old scales on the top - hopefully the bottom ones shed meaning it wouldn't be hurting her tail. Since the water hasn't worked should I continue? She doesn't really like it.
  16. I've been spraying her with water and gave her a couple of baths every couple of days. A small piece shed off a few days a go but nothing else has happened. I'm getting worried - what should I be doing? other than the water... Is it ok to wait till she sheds next? :-?
  17. Both my striata loaches and yoyos have eaten malaysian trumpet snails. Not the dwarf chain loaches but thats because the snails were too big for the little guys to handle
  18. Anyone know where to get these? http://s3.amazonaws.com/tc-photos/11442 ... 505017.jpg I'm after the 5.5 inch size Thanks
  19. Its also the manufacturers that could change their packaging. There are a few tank boxes that show way too large fish in their tanks, overstocking and mixes that wouldn't work - if people go by the pictures then they'd have problems... I think that its worse than petshops selling goldfish for small tanks.
  20. I got Sky a nice piece of wood yesterday. It also has a tunnel - meaning i could take out one of the spouting hides She's been enjoying climbing over the wood - trying to figure out which ways to climb up and slide back down. It was funning watching her curiousity when i first put the wood in
  21. Heres a pic Its the scales in the centre of her back that look like they havn't shed and her tail's scales look dull compared to the new scales.
  22. I'll try that - I did put some warm water on her where the scales hasn't shed, she was not pleased - ran away fast and hunched the area where I had wet. The stuff that hasn't shed is still firmly stuck on - but i can tell by the look of them that they're the old ones I'm fairly certain that her hands and feet have shed - and nothing got stuck (I was a bit anxious that something might get stuck) I'll try and get some pics later on.
  23. My bluey, Sky, seems to be having a bit of trouble shedding. This is her first shed while i've had her. She started 2 weeks ago. Is this too long? The bits left to shed is some along her back (along the spine) and i think most of her tail. What can I do to help her?
  24. My bluey didn't eat much of her food yesterday. She even left her FD crickets uneaten! Ate her food fine today. Main difference was that yesterday I sprayed the food with liquid vitamins. Last week she left one day of food uneaten and I have a feeling that it might have been vitamin day. How should I give her the vitamins? I've been putting the food on the plate then spraying it with the vitamins - not really mixing them.
  25. I was flicking through the new issue of pet nz mag & came across Jade and Amber in the readers pics page This is the pic thats in the mag:
