  4. sorry was just at work but forgot my camera. i'll take some pics next time i'm in- promise! you can check out an adult cage which is on display in wierd and wonderful if you want- all the breeding cages (5 at the moment) are behind the scenes though. the adult breeding cage is set up the same as the adult breeding cages behind the scenes though- and has to vermeculite cups in for the locusts to lay their eggs in.
  5. acan are really popular at the moment though aye? i heard they are the new craze in the states and the prices have gone through the roof in the last couple of years. very nice though speed

  11. welcome mark. whats your web address so we can have a look at the pics?
  12. yeah native fish love it. especially when the new water is going back ito the tank through the return they all go swim in the return flow
  13. why do you need a substrate for your locusts? if you have a raised bottom with circular holes in you can put cups full of vermeculite in (fine grade). then you gust need to take these cups out once every 2 weeks and put some new ones in and then put the egg cups under a 40w incandecent bulb and within a few days- up to a week or so they should be hatching. if you have more than one cage for locust you can have one for juveniles and one for adults. Only the adults will have the vermeculite cups because only they will be laying. when the locust start to hatch put the whole cup in with the small locusts. I'll take a few photo's of our setup if you don't understand what i mean. For grass you need to replace it 3x a week. you can just cut it from overgrown verges and should be 20-30 cm long- you can cut circular holes in the lids of plastic cups, half fill the cup with water and shove the grass in there and it should be good for 2-3 days. then you can feed them supplements of oat-bran if you are feeling kind. The easiest way to supply water i find, is to have a cup upside down with a few cuts around the rim- have this full of water and sitting in a deep petri dish. if the holes are below edge of the petri dish the petri-dish will fill up with water but not overflow- if you have a 300ml cup this should last a week or two. Again if you don't understand my explanation i'll take some photos for you. Of course you could always buy locusts off biosupplies if you can't be bothered breeding your own- the web address is http://www.ak.planet.gen.nz/%7Ebio/
  14. don't worry about pH- wcmm will handle this pH. Are you using stress coat? Imo you don't need to add stress zyme but stress coat or similar is vital.

  16. plant speces- Anubias i wouldn't put a birchir with the rest of these guys it would prolly give the tetras and the kribs a hard time. All the other fish should get along well
  17. hey i have a little 450 mm bitope south east asian tank with a fighter and a few other small fish. at the moment i just have java fern and java moss, what other small plants can i fit in which would go with the s.e asian theme? hair grass is is asian isn't it? they have to be able to handle low lighting also because i like the look of low lighting and little water movement in my asian tanks. cheers
  18. question1- i would say that depends on how much of your tank you want to illuminate and to what intensity- i would use super bright leds wired in parrallel. question 2- 12V would be best. (Phone charger style) question3-Blue would be best, red another option but unnatural
  19. wood looks fake- plants look real enough
