  1. I gave it up for a few years after a big relationship bust up meant I had to move towns and move in with my mother. I couldnt keep tanks there so put them in storage until I got myself sorted. Finally got a place and did the bachelor thing that involved too much drinking and partying and didnt have time for the tanks. When I finally got myself straightened out I set up my tanks and my collections just grew and grew. I am now at the point where my first child is not too far away and I am in the process of cutting down a little. My biggest fear is my plant collections. I have collected almost every type of crypt available in NZ and I know I wont be giving them up in a hurry. I dont think I will every get rid of my fish/plants ever totally unless I am unable to care for them myself.

    Grape Vine

I have not used it myself, but have seen on overseas forums that people do use it. I was going to use it this season as I cut the vine right back last year before I thought about it. Now just got to wait for this seasons crop to grow and then I can cut it back and use the vines in my Cupido tank.
  4. Great. Do you have any clearer pics of the female? I have one here I cant tell if its a female or a sub male. You are giving me hope
  5. Yuk, and even more annoying music.
  6. Keyhole eggs are the same colour as a terracotta pot. White ones are fungused ones as Ira has already pointed out
  7. Dont forget me Glad the wait is over for you Stella. I look forward to reading it.
  8. Looks like green lotus to me
  9. Yes, I want a pair of balzanii I saw a couple for sale in Animates about 18 months ago. I am kicking myself now for not buying them.
  10. LOL, I gave more away than I sold
  11. But you are not allowed to sell Koura are you? I agree Stella. The whole Native fish thing is a mess. I mean you can legally take 50 Koura per person per day. Show me a place in my region where I can fulfill my allowable quota and return to do the same the following day :-?
  12. I just went and counted, I have a total of 5 of these and they are all the Alto brand from Mitre10. I can recall only one that didnt work and I took it back and got my money back and paid five time more for an expensive HPM one. That lasted a few months and then just wouldn go again so I went back to the cheapies. I figure that at their price I can afford to have a few spare so if one does go I can just replace it. Its not like my tanks will crash if it stops for a day or so. Maybe take them back and get some more. 150w MH should be fine.

    Yeah, I knew that
  14. What do you regard as a big load? I have one running the lights on 5 tanks (total of nearly 700w) and have never had an issue. I just set and forget. I realise 700w is not a huge load, but who here uses them for more than tank lighting?
  15. http://www.mitre10.co.nz/energy_efficie ... id=7&rid=2 I use those. I bought some expensive ones that crapped out within weeks. Some of these have been going for two years now with no issues.

Is it not the same as breeding cows and sheep for us to eat? 8)
  17. Without sounding too critical, You may wish to look again at your plant placement. Remember that with substrate ferts you dont want to be uprooting plants and moving them once they grow as it will make a huge mess. Some plant like the twisted Val in the front would be much better suited to the back as it will soon grow larger blocking the view through the tank. Just a thought. Regarding the light hood, yes that will be good, but you need to look into the costs of replacement bulbs. I am not sure about the sizes but I know my 2 T5HO units use the 85cm tubes which cost about $60 per tube.
  18. Super glue it. Im not joking. It is quick and easy.
  19. Smelt should be fine with the Bully.
  20. Mine is not very exciting. Years ago when chatrooms were the "in thing" I tried to log in as my name Simon. Taken, so I wrote supersimon, was also taken so I shortened it to supasi. Has stuck ever since and is also my rego plate and username for most forums I am a member of.
  21. Awesome Stella. Its amazing where they can climb. Just a shame that most culverts are hanging which sux.
  22. I am keen on some if some kind Aucklander could tell me who stocks it or even send me some if I pay them for it?
  23. A nice long tank as they are schooling fish. Need to keep a few to keep them happy. Also a way to keep the water temperature down in the middle of summer.
