  1. Fantastic! That's great. We (the KMAC car!) have loosely said we'll get there around midday. Haven't thought about lunch or when we'll do things like Wet Pets (Gee those Hawkes Bay types are so organised!  ) Happy to mix it up with others but give everyone time to see tanks.
  2. OOh cookies! yum. (My last lot of gingernuts were as hard as the bought ones. ) Let's hope the weather is slightly better than today! See you Saturday.
  3. Sad news indeed. A work colleague ran over her cat today - broke it's pelvis so the cat has to be in a very small cage for six weeks. Best wishes for tomorrow.
  4. They look cute! Congratulations! :bounce: :bounce: Just remember to change their water often - like at least twice a day, and put food in just as often. I use airline to siphon the muck out, changing about half to 3/4 water at a time. Use the tank water they came from to top up.
  5. Epsom salts is usually at the supermarket, but it can be hard to find! I've seen it with laundry items or with the table salt. Mostly it is with the panadol and antacids, and other remedies. try there before you look at other types of shops - the supermarket price is cheapest.
  6. Best wishes Eddie, for a good recovery. I hope they have a fish tank in the hospital! Hugs and smiles, Hellen
  7. Hi all, thanks to those who are willing to open their homes/fishrooms for us! There may not be a huge contingent from Welly coming up, but there are some who are super-keen! :bounce: :bounce: And it isn't the quantity of tanks that's important. Bilbo, I know that if they can come, there are people from Welly that want to visit you anyhow - friends from KMAC. Not sure who is available as yet, due to other commitments they are trying to juggle. I agree though that family comes first and you must plan something special for your anniversary! So far, we'd planned to get to Palmy about midday. I am happy to coordinate /be contact for Welly people. Cheers, Hellen
  8. :bounce: :bounce: Thanks for sharing this! I'm all for power saving by poly! :bounce: In the Hutt Valley there is a great polystyrene shop ( big label on front - "POLY" on Pharazyn St, just along from the Pet Vet. I got sheets of poly there roughly cut to size, for a few dollars. They have all shapes and sizes too. Now to do all the other tanks!
  9. I agree absolutely! :bounce: My tanks are never finished - they just have "better-looking phases" I'm so looking forward to this trip. For me, seeing other people's tanks is always enjoyable. If the tanks are at a set-up stage - they just prompt a different set of conversations. I know from experience that having people round when you are putting something together can help get better ideas and suggestions that don't always come when the tank is "finished".
  10. So far so good! :bounce: I'd add 20 more neons and 10 more harlequins, then a dozen or so glowlight tetras. All the schooling fish look wonderful in large groups - at least 10 of each. It sounds like you're going to have a great-looking tank!
  11. Oh I prefer the greyer brichardi to the daffodils! I have a small colony of brichardi now, as well as the electric yellow and demasoni and peacock blend. In my opinion it's worth waiting for the demasoni for the colour but the brichardi or daffodils have the interesting colony behaviour.
  12. Thanks to BOTH Tasman and Marlborough Clubs for hosting a wonderful conference! Take a bow, it was a great weekend.
  13. Yep, I'll be there! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  14. it means 'the' - ng is used in heaps of Maori words! garrish
  15. What's wrong with RPG on PC? I love my Baldur's Gate!
  16. Hi Cam, a tank crawl is like a pub crawl  except you go from one tank to another, visiting different people and seeing their tanks and fish. Great fun! The Doris Mills Lounge is part of the Community Centre - there is a small loop parking area on the left of Linden Ave, as you go from the Main Tawa/Porirua Road. It is before the railway tracks. See you there!
  17. The tanks look great! I love the moss monsters. What are sids?
  18. Hi, what size is the tank and what decor? What you can add depends also on how much space you have and what filtration you have. I think kribensis are prettier than rams, and certainly hardier. I also would add many more neons - they look and behave better in larger schools.
