Bearded Dragon limping - does anybody have any idea what
Sweetysmum replied to Sweetysmum's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
Definately not impactation but he has always had trouble with constipation. His spine showed in the x ray and looked okay but would pressure on the spine show on an x-ray? Would arthritis show on an x ray and could a young adult get arthritis? Thanks livingart. -
Bearded Dragon limping - does anybody have any idea what
Sweetysmum replied to Sweetysmum's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
he has had three x rays taken showing complete area. Nothing showing at all. I go to a vet that deals with reptiles and exotics. Yes Matt he is in a glass home but he has been in it most of his life, and his beard has just been doing this since he has been unwell. Could anything internally be causing him to be so lame. -
could be causing it. A few weeks ago my little boy who is just two years and three months old started limping very badly. A couple of mornings it was so bad he was stumbling. Then that night he would be walking okay again. Now he is limping badly, constantly. I have had him back and forward to the vets ever since i first noticed him limping. They have taken blood tests and x rays and nothing showed up on anything. I was concerned about MBD but blood tests and x rays do not show it. The only thing that did show was the white blood cells are on the high side. His beard is constantly black during the day but when he is asleep it goes back to normal. The vets have put him on a course of antibiotic injections (3 in total) and he is now on his second course of oral antibiotics. He is still limping badly. Strangly enough, he seems to have strength in his back legs when he tries to get away when i am giving him the antibiotics, even though he is lame when trying to walk. When in his enclosure he stays in the same place most of the day. He is also on painkillers metacam. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this. He is so precious to me, and it is heartbreaking watching him trying to walk. I would be grateful of any help/advice/info whatsoever. Thanks. (ps Im not able to use my internet am using my sisters at present - just wanted to mention that in case i can't reply straight away)

What are the causes of pinworm numbers increasing
Sweetysmum replied to Sweetysmum's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
Hi Livingart I took Calypso to the vets today to check on that other problem and he tested his faeces and the pinworm eggs have increased quite a lot from his last check - so he wants to see another sample in a months time. Calypso has paper towels for his substrate and corrugated cardboard under that. I change his paper towels every week but occassionally it has gone two weeks, but whenever he messes I take it out straight away or as soon as i see it. I thought about washing his enclosure out in case there are eggs about. Would you have any recommendations on what to use to wash/sterilize everything, that is safe for beardies but would get rid of pinworm eggs. Thanks. -
bearded dragon, has any bearded dragon owner ever noticed or seen a bearded dragon with one bone (side) hanging lower than the other side. Calypso, (the one eyed Beardie) the bone on the side where his eye was removed hangs lower than the other side. Does anyone have any ideas? He is eating normally and carrying on in his normal little daytime activities. It was three months ago when I first noticed it. I took him to the vets at the time and he couldn't see anything specific . He said he would have to be aneathitised and x rayed to know for sure but said to just moniter him for now. I wondered if it could be something to do with having no eye that has caused the abnormalty. and I would really appreciate any advice/information you can give me. Thanks,

Rookie beardy lover looking for advice tips hints..
Sweetysmum replied to Captain Soup's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
He he Calypso hates his baths. Last time i tried to give him one he ended up on my head. I might try and stop spraying, may encourage him to eat his salads if he wants moisture. Thanks for the tip. -

Hello Captain Soup and welcome to the forum. Beardies are so awesome aren't they. My little boy yawns, it's so cute to watch. He opens his mouth as wide as can be as he yawns, then afterwards carries on with what he was doing. Usually just sitting around and taking it easy. I always put a water dish in his enclosure but he has never ever drunken from it. I give him a mist every few days or so. -
Young Mr. Calypso...... Hip hip hooray to my little man......... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Exotic Pet Supplies - Does anybody know
Sweetysmum replied to Sweetysmum's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
Yeah that was Sim. He was the one who made the lid of my terrarium, and put in all the lighting etc, so wanted to keep to the same brand. There heat lamps have 130v on them but i had an accident with it, so have my old back up one in there now which is 140v. Im hoping that wont make a difference with the fittings. -
if the business is still going? I have had no luck getting hold of Tyson. Tried emailing, texting, phoning his mobile and also his landline. Heard he was off to oz soon, and wondering what's happening with Exotic Pet Suppies. I get my fluorescents and heat lamps etc from him. Thanks guys.

Hi there, can Axolotls eat meal worms at all? And if so, is it best to give them ones that have just shed or would it not matter? Thanks.
-
Lynfield Vets, they are very helpful and deal with exotics. Good luck with your new comer.

my axolotl can't get skinny and is floating-help
Sweetysmum replied to Jinxy's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
My partner hand feeds his axolotl using small tweezers that way nothing falls in the water to tempt Axe to eat his pebbles. Have you tested PH levels and ammonia. When his axolotl wasnt well at one stage that was the cause. He feeds him ox heart and earth worms every two days. He has a round tummy but is well and healthy. Good luck with your fella. -
How often should a young adult Bearded Dragon
Sweetysmum replied to Sweetysmum's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
Okay well Calypso hasnt shed since the beginning of the year. He is 20-1/2 months old and is 16 inches long. Ever since he had his eye removed last June his shedding rate lessoned, and he hasnt grown hardly these last six months. Do you think it would be worth mentioning it to his vet, his last check up was about three months ago. He has never been a big eater since the operation. -
shed their skin? Thanks.
