  1. The main fish to go in this tank and the reason for even setting it up is for my clown loach. Her name is Sweety. I have had her for over 20 years now She's awesome. Shes a real people fish she loves people. I love having plants there, but they usually get knocked about anyway so I am not too worried about them. But she is the one I want to get everything right for. Thanks guys.
  2. tell me what MH stands for. Sorry for the ignorance. And I appreciate your advice as we never learn without asking. Thank you.
  3. recommended. What colour fluoresent tube is best. And whether a double fluorescent is recommended or a single. Its for my six foot tank so will have to get 2 only 3 ft lights. The height of the tank is 24" . I would appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thank you.
  4. And am just wondering how often I should add the cycle to the water. It is a six foot tank and at present has no fish in it, as they are waiting for the bacteria levels to get established before they move in. I added my first dose of cycle tonight, which was 20 lids full because of the size of the tank, and the instructions say to add more in 7 days time. I would appreciate any advice as to what others have done when setting up their tank. I am not so worried about establishing the bacteria levels quickly to get them in quicker, but just want to do it correctly. Thank you for your time.
  5. yes I was so excited when it came, and so disappointed when it happened. But thems the breaks I guess, no pun intended.
  6. when my tank was delived last week he only gave me a 10mm poly to go under it. My tank would be sitting on it now if they hadn't have dropped the tank on the concrete and smashed the base as they reached our front step. :-?
  7. from one tip to the other she's 12 inches, and I love her with all my heart. Had her just on 23 years and unfortunately she is battling health problems. Thank you so much for your help. ps. yes I found that article extremely technical too, glad I'm not the only one.
  8. Hello everybody, just joined today so hope I do this right. I'm hoping someone can help me. I need to buy a fish tank 6 foot long x 2 foot high x 2 foot wide. My Clown Loach has outgrown her present home and the Vet suggested she needed a six foot tank. I have to get one made and was quoted these dimensions, but I am concerned about the thickness. They never mentioned the glass needs to be a certain thickness, and before I give them the okay to make it up, I thought I would ask here, what thickness glass would you suggest for the above dimensions, as I'm worried they may make it up and then find it should have been thicker glass. Also, would a wooden stand be strong enough to put it on, made of 2 by 2, with 3 legs along the front and 3 legs along the back. I would appreciate any help at all, as she is so special to me, I would hate to put her into anything that later caused problems. Thank you for any advice you can give me regarding the above.
