Hi everyone, Calypso is one year old today. It's a very special day for me considering all what he has been through. I still have alot of trouble getting him to eat, but apart from that he is doing okay. He goes to the vets once a month so he can check on the scar and he gets weighed to see if he is getting enough into him. He is the dearest little man ever. So little man ::: HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALYPSO WITH LOTS OF LOVE FROM YOUR VERY PROUD MUMMY XXXX :::  :bounce: :bounce:

Thanks Mincie. -
a Bearded Dragon enclosure. Like is jeyes fluid safe to use or not? What would be the safest option? This is for washing or wiping down the various ornaments, leafy vines, food and water bowls and the glass floor of the enclosure. Thank you.

...so finally Tequila's on the mend
Sweetysmum replied to Dave+Amy's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
Hi Amy, Calypso had a tumor growing in his left eye, and had to have his eye removed. His appetite still hasn't come right he will only eat an odd thing every now and again, and he also has trouble because when he sees his food and turns to eat it he can't see where it's gone even though i hand feed him his live food. Poor wee man. Thank goodness for syringes. I've just got him some cockroaches which he has never had before, so am keeping my fingers crossed he will like them. Glad to hear Tequila's got an appetite. I'm sure it won't take long for him to build himself up again. Calypso and Sweety say hello. -

Hi Dave and Amy, so sorry to hear about Tequila. My young fella has been through the mill too, but with another very serious problem, and Calypso just wants to send Tequila all his love. Also I wanted to thank you for putting the thread up because i have been so busy trying to work out how to get food into Calypso, (have been using a syringe as well) i have been forgetting to add calcium in with it. So thank you for that, and all the very best to you both and Tequila. -

Hi Elaine and Doza, thank you for asking. I just typed a long reply and then my computer lost it before i submitted it. Grrrr.... Some days he is really active, but other days he just sleeps alot. He is still having trouble eating, he used to always eat from my hand but now he won't hardly do it. Some days he will eat a few wax worms, I put them i a coloured dish so he can see them and tilt them up to him, or on his ledge if he is resting his front legs on it, and if he spies them ok he will usually eat them, but alot of them just crawl away. He doesnt seem interested in other live food at the present. He doesn't have much of an appetite, so i give him a little bit of cat food in a syringe when he hasnt eaten for a while. But he says mummy is a mucky pup because he ends up with cat food dribbling down his neck. He goes back to the vets in just under two weeks time for a re check. The stitches are still visible, and the area still looks a bit of a mess, but thats to be expected. He sends lots of love to Doza. How is Doza getting on with his bent tail? He is such a cutie. I brought Calypso this crocodile ornament the other day and at first he didnt like it, but today he was sitting on it. He looked really sweet. Thank you for asking about my wee man, take good care. Hi my friends i have some GREAT NEWS. Calypso is going to be OKAY. The results came back this morning and when the vet told me, i felt like it wasnt real hearing the news. I have been on cloud nine ever since. He is off the pain killers now and the last dose of antibiotics is sunday. I am so thankful for all the support all you guys have given me and Calypso, and i feel so happy and relieved. Hopefully as he adjusts more to life with one eye, he will get his appetite back. If the area starts to swell any time i take him back and they will remove the foam, but apart from that all going well he doesnt go back for a month. THANK YOU EVERYBODY SO MUCH. -

Hi everyone, we are still waiting to get the results back from the lab. Calypso has to go back to the vets for a check on friday. He's not been very hungry, but has been having some cat food via a syringe. He is still on the antibiotics and painkillers, but the vet said painkillers aren't so important now. Half of me wants to get the results, the other half just wants to forget they ever exist. He still enjoys spying on Sweety which is so good to see. Thanks guys for all your support. -
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what i can feed my nine month old bearded dragon to boost him up. He isn't very interested in food at present but it's important he keeps his strength up, as he is re-cooperating after major surgery. I heard about giving baby food, so i have been giving him small amounts with an eye dropper. Does anyone else have any suggestions. Thank you.

Hi everyone, Calypso came home today. But he has slept the whole time. I woke him a wee while ago to try and get him to eat, but he wasn't hungry. Had a wee walk around his terrarium but bumped his blind side a couple of times. It will probably take him a while to get used to it all. He's gone back to sleep but i will have to wake him later for his meds. It's so nice having him home. All going well he goes back in a week for a follow up. The results should be back by then. I probably sound like a nag bag, but i really do appreciate the prayers and positive vibes from you all. Thank you all very much. -

Hey everyone, Calypso had his operation this morning. The Vet had trouble stopping the bleeding, but he came through the operation and is now tucked up in an incubator at his hospital. It will take about a week before the results come through. I feel so unsettled, one moment i think maybe he will be okay, next moment i start imagining hearing the worst. But for now ill just look forward to having him home. Please keep up the positive vibes and prayers for my little man. I appreciate it more than anything. Thank you. The people on this site are awesome. -

the tubes are 2 ft each so that would be equal to two four foot lights. Hope it's got nothing to do with too much lighting because in his small terrarium the lighting wasn't very good, and when he upgraded i got the lid maker to put two doubles in to compensate for missing out on good lighting for so long.
