  1. My UV lighting is Reptistar. 18W/6500K. He has 4 (2 doubles) in his five foot home. That is the brand that was put in by the maker of the lid for Calypso's terrarium. Has anybody ever heard bad feedback about them. The maker of the lid also has bearded dragons. Thanks for the kind words and prayers.
  2. My dear little Calypso has been diagnosed with an aggressive melanoma in his eye. Has anyone ever heard of or know of any other bearded dragon that has had this before. He has only just turned nine months old. He has to have his eye removed, and if he survives that, they will send it off for testing to see if the cancer has spread. I found this out last Thursday. I love my little dragon with all my heart and it all feels very unreal. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may be able to offer any advice. And i would really appreciate special prayers and positive vibes for my beloved little dragon. I will keep you posted on what happens with my Calypso, and thank you to everyone who is able to help in this way.
  3. Gosh Chilli Iris is adorable. Do you know how long he is. He has altered so much in looks. I love his colouring. 8)
  4. Calypso has never frothed either. Touch wood it doesn't happen. But unfortunately he is having other problems. He saw the vet just over a month ago and he couldn't find anything obviously wrong, but things haven't improved so he said to bring him back in to see if any further symptoms have become obvious. I love the pinky colour on Munch. Did the vet have any suggestions about what the frothing was caused by. Wouldn't it be great if all the beardies got to meet up sometime. Let's hope all the unwell beardies pick up soon.
  5. Thanks. Aren't we lucky to have adopted such lovely dragons. Makes all the worry worth it.
  6. Thanks bulldogod. Livingart your reply put a smile on my dial. Thanks i needed that.
  7. How long have yours gone without being interested in food bulldogod. Yeah Mystic I can relate, I worry like crazy about Calypso. Thought after the first couple of months the worries would subside, but had him about 7-1/2 months and the worries just change from one thing to another. He was just over a week old when i first saw him in my LFS, so was under a week old when he left the nest, and i often wonder if thats the reason why he has so many ups and downs, leaving the nest so early. I just love him so much.
  8. Glad to hear Malin is doing good. I even tried to show Calypso the "spider" I placed him on my keyboard and dragged spider around with the mouse, i was hoping he would take an interest like your wee one but he was in sleepy mode and wasnt interested. Hes cuddled up in a ball fast asleep now.
  9. any other bearded dragon owners ever noticed over the winter period if their beardies lose their appetite. My fella is nearly nine months and for the last couple of months he has been getting very very fussy and can go days without eating, even though i try and temp him with his most favourites. And when he does decide to eat its only a few wax worms. About three weeks ago he started to brumate but it only lasted a couple of days. I took him to the vets about a month ago when he started going off his food and the vet could find nothing wrong. He has been sleeping most of today, but other days he spends alot of time awake and roaming about. Before all this started, say about six weeks ago, he had a very good appetite. He is very very special to me, and I would appreciate any advice/input from more experienced beardie owners than me. Thanks.

  20. I love it when Calypso comes out for a run. He shoots along the carpet so fast and then suddenly stops and turns around to see where mummy is and sure enough mummy is right behind him. I can almost hear him saying RATS she's following me ..... And when he sleeps Awwww...... yes he is my absolute pride and joy too. Love him to pieces.
  21. Hey Mystic, yeah they are so cute how they do funny things like that and you know its not a health issue. I love the way Calypso tilts his head and gives the canary the evils sometime. Its the cutest look ever. I would love to know whats going through his mind sometimes.
  22. Okay thank you living art i will try harder with the carrot and also try the pumpkin. I have just lately been doing the tough love thing, veges or nothin, so he chooses nothing and i end up softening and hand feed him to make sure he gets something into his tummy. I havent tried him on pumpkin before so i will grate some of that and see if he eats it. Do you know is there a test or anything the vet can do that can check for vitamin A deficiency.
  23. He closes it any time, no specific time or situation. Just slowly closes it, the other eye is still wide open, then a short time later will slowly open it. Then a few moments later will do it again. But no pattern to it. Its always the same eye though.
